𝙱𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝙱𝚛𝚘𝚜 ~ 𝙶𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝙼𝚘𝚛𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐, 𝙸𝚔𝚎𝚋𝚞𝚔𝚞𝚛𝚘

This story contains spoilers from the bonus chapters of volume 2 of the T.D.D manga.
This story is an adaptation where the reader has a role as if they were in the manga. The plot therefore does not belong to me.

"Just 'cause you say you can do a little exercise doesn't mean you can show off."

Jiro's hands clutched around yours and Saburo's as you were walking home together on your way back from school. He had managed to score three goals during one of the breaks, leaving his entire class staring at him in awe, including you. However, as much as it had made his popularity increase, his fellow classmate's twelve-year-old brain had clearly decided that was reason enough to bully him out of jealousy.

"...I wasn't trying to show off. Come on, Saburo." As much as both you and Jiro were eager to get back to the Orphanage, Saburo was straying further behind as he obviously disliked the way these bullies were talking to his brother. The bullies start laughing before their leader continues to tease Jiro. "You're scared." he snickers, making Jiro instantly freeze. His grip tightens on your hand to a point where it hurts, making you pry it out before tightly hugging his arm in hopes of getting him to calm down.

"Don't listen to them, Jiro." you whisper as he turns his face to look at you while you comfort him. As he gives you a thankful smile, you continue. "We all know you're not scared, they're just being-" "You gonna run home crying to your mama?" Your eyes widen at what he says, turning around to face the bully. "Oh yeah, that's right," he continues as he notices your shocked expression.

"You don't have one."

Jiro's face is radiating pure rage as you look at him, unable to think of how to comfort him. Before you even have the chance to open your mouth, the bullies continue.

"He lives in that old run-down orphanage."
"Yeah, Director "Broke's" place, right?"
"Hey, you should ask the director for an allowance. Since it seems like he's always asking people for money too-"

"Don't make fun of him!"

Saburo finally snaps, shouting at the bully as he goes punch him. However, before you and Jiro manage to react, the bully violently shoves Saburo into the ground. "Saburo!" you shout as you run to kneel beside his trembling form. "Are you okay?!" Jiro joins you, only to suddenly freeze as he notices his younger brother's sobs. Distracted by Saburo's tears, you don't realize Jiro is currently stomping towards the bullies with a rage filled glare until it's too late.

"J-Jiro stop!" you try to yell as he grabs the bully by his collar and furiously throws a punch at his face. As he writhes in pain on the ground, Jiro grins at him before his expression suddenly turns pained as one of the other bullies kicks him in the stomach. "Jiro!" Saburo is the one to shout this time as you're too shocked to move.

Although the hit to the stomach shocked him too, Jiro quickly lets out a laugh before attempting to attack the other bullies as well. You knew Jiro's strength as the two of you had fought each other numerous times before, however those times had just been for fun. No one had ended up with any serious injury when the two of you play-fought, but seeing as this was a real fight between Jiro and four other bullies, Jiro didn't seem to be doing so well despite his incredible strength.

As one of the bullies harshly punches his cheek, you finally snap out of your shock, running towards them before aggressively attacking the one who punched Jiro. In spite of them still having twice as many fighters as you, they didn't seem to have predicted you would join the fight at all as you managed to make one of them run home crying to their "mama". As you and Jiro continue to fight them, you realize it seemed play-fighting with a boy your age ended up being quite convenient.

"We're home..."

Saburo's voice was still trembling as the three of you entered the orphanage. As you notice Ichiro talking with the director, you quickly shift your guilty glare to the floor. You knew Ichiro cared about you equally as much as he cared for his brothers. Of course, seeing as he was the eldest in the orphanage, he cared a lot about everyone as he felt he had a lot of responsibility. Though, he always tried to put more care into his brothers, as well as you as he seemed to think of you as a little sister too.
