ricky had felt like he was waiting for hours. in that time, gina, carlos, big red, skylar and logan had arrived and carol, dana, ashlyn, seb and kourtney were still on their way over here

he couldn't focus properly when they were talking to him. in fact- he didn't really talk to anyone at all. he just sat in the same spot, staring at the wall in front of him without a word or any expression on his face

all he could think about was how it was his fault. how if he hadn't seen what she was trying to tell her earlier, none of this would've happened. how if he had arrived at that island only a few moments before, maybe everything would've been fine and they would be back in l.a the two of them together in the hood of his car and watching their endless amount of disney movies with her in his arms

but now here he was, in a hospital waiting to see if the person he loves most in the world was going to stay alive or even remember him.

the same doctor that had taken her to the room arrived, still in his scrubs and cap as he walks over to them all

everyone looks up and rushes towards him, ricky standing up and walking over to them as well

"the head scan came back with a concussion," he begins "it was predicted after the way she was hit and where the pole had hit her on the head. she had a collapsed lung so we had to get her to surgery straight away, but we got her stable and she should be breathing back to normal. she's not on a ventilator, but she does have an oxygen mask on that we prefer she'd keep for the most part." he says

everyone sighs in relief at the thought of her being okay but aria speaks up

"will she be able to remember us?" she asks

the doctor takes a deep breath "well, it's hard to say. she's still sleeping but we won't know until she wakes up. the memory loss would be completely normal and would be one of her symptoms but were hoping that it doesn't happen. the confusion and slight headache would be the ideal symptoms, but that's all i can say for certain."

ricky swallows and feels gina take his hand in hers for comfort while aria talks

"can we see her?"

the doctor nods with a smile "of course, she's in the third room on the right."

the group all thank her while aria, logan and skylar quickly make their way towards the room, followed by big red, carlos and gina- who stops abruptly when she doesn't hear ricky behind her

"hey," she says softly "you coming?"

ricky swallows "i-uh-i-"

she notices his eyes tearing up and sighs as she takes him in for a hug

"she's okay," she whispers in assurance

he nods "b-but it's my fault-"

"no, stop." gina says quickly, pulling away "this is not you're fault. okay?"

"but-if i hadn't-"

"if you didn't see her fall into the water and had gotten her out in time, who knows what would've happened to her. she's okay."

ricky swallows and nods slowly "okay."

"you ready to go see her?"

the boy takes a deep breath and nods once again before gina leads him closer to the room

ricky stops when he doesn't hear a sound and everyone comes out of the room

"she's still asleep," aria says quietly "we just sat with her for a bit, but i think you could use some alone time with her,"
