I woke up to the smell of freshly made coffee. I lingered into the kitchen where Spencer sat and played chess by himself.

"Good morning. How did you sleep?" He asked.

I was still half asleep. I shrugged and said "I slept through the night for the first time in a couple months, but I think it's from the drugs. How about you?"

"My first night back wasn't exactly how I'd imagined it. It was nice though, and since when did you start talking in your sleep?" He asked.

I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "I don't talk in my sleep." I said.

He laughed. "Yes you do, but only a little. Don't worry it's cute."

"Who's winning?" I asked pointing at the chess board to change the topic. It's good to see him playing again.

He bit his lip as he sarcastically thought. "Hmm. I honestly don't know, I think I am." He began moving all the pieces back to their original places.

"What are you doing? White had mate in ten." I said.

"Six, and I'm resetting the board, so we can play. When is the last time you played?"

"I played..." I thought about it. I never played alone like Spencer did, but I played with Emily on the jet a while ago. "A little bit ago with Emily."

"Well, Emily isn't me. Sit." He gestured for me to sit across from him. I sat down slowly, so I wouldn't hurt myself.

Spencer saw me struggle and got up to help me into the chair. Since when did he become so strong? I felt like an old lady beside him.

"Thank you."

He walked to the kitchen and grabbed my medication and a water and brought them to me. He gave me a smile as he sat back down making the first move.

We played for what felt like an hour, but eventually he captured all my pieces and won.

"One day, in another lifetime I will win against you." I said.

"Another lifetime? Why not this one?" He asked.

"We have forever. I'm in no rush to beat you." I smiled.

"Actually, forever is endless and the average life span is 72 years, so technically we have around 42 years."

"42 years is our forever then. When we die our forever can restart."

"Not necessarily, even Catholics believe that-" he began.

"Spence, I know the facts just as much as you. Just say okay." I laughed. It was nice to see that side of him was still there. With all that he's been through, he is lucky to have that part of himself to hang onto.

"I was just kidding." He smiled. "In another lifetime then." He agreed.

We continued talking and we both got a text from JJ that we had an urgent case. We hurried as we changed and drove separately to the BAU. Inside everyone was huddled around the table collecting information. Spencer was already there and writing down some notes. He was speeding, how else could he have gotten here that fast. The speed limit is 45 and for him to make it in before me, he would have to had been going around 60. I prefered to be a careful driver compared to everyone else.
