An Ordinary man

The frogs were croaking afar,
As the warthogs ululated to welcome the darkness,
So the king put down his crown and walked out,
Off he went like any ordinary man with troubles of his own,
Head bowed and hands behind his now bending back,

I could not look at him I'd break,
So much weight he carried on his back,
That his shoulders curved a little,
I prayed He found a piece of peace in his lonely walk,
That the lonely streets would give him the answers he was looking for.

He stopped and looked at some stray wildflower,
That grew on  a freshly manicured lawn,
He shook his head and I swear I saw his lips curve a little smile,
Maybe he enved the wildflower's audacity to grow there,
It's lack of excuse to do what it wanted,

He plucked it's flower and sat on a sidewalk bench,
People waved at him and he waved back politely,
He looked at the flower and it is as if it
Opened a door of unforgettable memories,
Memories that he held close to his heart.

He put the flower in his pocket,
Perhaps to take take it to the thief of his heart,
Just like any ordinary man in love.
