Everyone stood in front of the newly built as Jean and Magneto, also known as Erik, were working together to rebuild the school bigger and better. The student body, along with some of the teachers, were all stood on the grass outside, watching it be built.

Peters leg had been in a cast, which was already covered in doodles and silly drawings, and he had to use crutches until it healed. Storm, the lighting lady, had been enrolled in the school, the Professor seeing good in her and knowing he could help her with growing her powers.

Scott watched closer to the front as the school was begin built. He heard someone clear their throat and turned his head to see Hank, blue fur and everything, standing next to him.

"I've, uh, got something for you." He pulled out a visor from his jacket pocket. It was made of metal with a thin strip of ruby quartz, supposedly where he would look out from.

Scott took it from him and looked it over. It looked sort of...dorky. "It's just one big visor." He said simply, kind of not wanting to wear it.

Hank was silent for a second before nodding and saying, "It is. Yeah."

Scott looked up at the blue man and asked with his eyebrows pulled together, "You want me to wear it? On my face?"

"Well, I-I went for functionality over form. Look, it's got controls built into the band so you can adjust the intensity of your beam." Hank explains, pointing to the little knobs on the side of the sliver visor.

Scott nods his head a little before closing his eyes and taking off his red lensed glasses, handing them to Hank. He adjust the metal band on his face. It wasn't uncomfortable and he could actually see much better than he would have thought.

"Yeah now it's probably best we start on the lowest-" Hanks helpful was quickly thrown out the window when Scott accidentally pressed a button. A laser shooting from his eye and hit a rock, making some of the nearby students jump.

"Sorry." He apologized sheepishly to the students who had been startled by the sudden blast before turning to Hank and asking, "Do you know where Max is?"

"I know she's in the back. She's never been one for large crowds." Scott nodded to him, thanking him, before walking around the group of kids to find her. Max stood a few yards away from the other kids, her hands clasped behind her back as she watched the school being rebuilt to its former glory.

Her horns and spilt tail were out, part of her not caring who saw them and the other not having the energy to put them away. Her black tail swaying behind her casually while Max's natural black hair was down.

Scott walked up and stood next to her, the sudden presence making her head turn to him. She smirked, stifling a laugh as she said, "As if I don't tease you enough."

He nodded with a smile, knowing before he even walked over that this would happen, and waved her off. "I actually kind of like it." He said a little chuckle, "I just hope people don't start calling me Cyclops."

She seemed to think about it for a second, tiling her head to the side as she hummed at the idea. He quickly noticed that she thought he was serious about the name and said, "No, Max. I was joking-"

Her beautiful laughter cut him off as she began to say, "What, I actually like that superhero name!"

Scott chuckled along with her before they both fell into a comfortable silence. He looked at her from the corner of his eye nervously, trying to work up his courage. He quickly leaned over and kiss her on the cheek both immediately pulling back, not looking at her to see her reaction.

"Thank you for, you know, saving me back there." He stammered as his eyes focused back on the school, referring to when she saved him from Storm.

Max turned her head to the side and raised an eyebrow at him. Not because she didn't like it, she did, her red cheeks were evidence enough for that, but why he pulled away so fast. She grabbed to the lapel of his jacket and pressed her lips to his. It took him a second to respond because of his shock but he quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. It was messy, their noses nudging each other's, neither of them having a ton of experience with this but, it was perfect for them.

She pulled away with a smile, watching the shock on his face, his mouth slightly open as he processed what just happened. His cheeks were flushed, eyebrows up and his slightly swollen lips parted.

"If you're gonna kiss me, do it right. Don't be a wuss, Scott." She smirked at him before putting her hands in her jacket pockets and walked away from from, towards the school. As she walked past, the ends of her split tail brushed against his arm, bringing him back to his senses

Max just kissed him. Those words were still running through his brain as his eyes darted to her walking away from him casually. He also realized that was the first time she had said his name. His actual name.

And he loved it.
