Chapter Fourteen
Hidden Agenda

Amari's P.O.V

Lahat kami'y natuon ang atensyon sa babaeng kanina lang ay tila puting buwan kung numingning ang mga mata, anticipating her reaction and what she has to say about this whole situation I dragged all of them in. Though it seemed like she really was having trouble, muntik na kasi itong matumba kanina, habang mahigpit na nakasara pa rin ang kanyang mga umiilaw na matang kulay pilak.

"What did you see, Khair?" Tanong ni Klyde, his eyebrows furrowed as if they were about to merge into one. "Were you able to break through the illusion?" he asked again, after noticing Khair slowly unveil the glowing, metallic, silver orbs hidden behind her eyelids.

"Do you know him?" Tila wala sa sariling sagot ni Khair, na lalo namang ikinagulo ng ekspresyon ni Klyde. "Amari, do you remember him?" Muli akong napalingon kay Khair nang mapagtantong para sa akin ang katanungan kanyang ibinato nang subukan syang kausapin ni Klyde.

"Have you met him before? Or does he at least feel familiar to you?" She turned to meet me fully, her gleaming irises still flaring at my sight. "His voice? His aura? The way he acted around you?" Khair drowned me with endless questions, confirming that she did see my memories—or only some of them.

"Hindi.." I mumbled, almost stumbling on my own words as I responded to her tidal waves of queries. "Hindi ko sya kilala. Even when he disguised himself as Klyde, he didn't feel anything familiar to me, or at least because I already knew he wasn't Klyde."

"Why, Khair?" asked Klyde, making it evident that he was just as puzzled as I am. "What did you saw in her memories?" pag-uulit nito sa nauna nyang tanong kani-kanina lamang.

"I wasn't able to enter the illusion she was held in," Khair ran her palm to her hair. Her long, pale, candle-like fingers brushed through the silver strands as they went past each. "But I was able to recall the memories she had before she was abducted."

"What happened? Have you found his identity?" Klyde replied frustrated, the red circles of his eyes starting to saturate again, emphasizing his blood-like irises.

Lumakad si Khair papalapit sa mga nakasarang bintana ng aking kwarto at sumandal rito, the bleeding sky peeking behind her. "That man, whoever the fuck he was.."

Her look drifted from the ground to us. "He said he was waiting for Amari."

"He knew who she was." Khair paused to free a sigh. "Thus, what she meant to you as well, Klyde."

"What do you mean?" Klyde hurriedly made his way beside Khair who was just as stressed as he was.

"He wouldn't have attacked her without a good reason to do so," Walang-alinlangang saad nito nang makaharap muli ang hari. "He's malevolent, and I highly doubt anyone will go play with death unless he was aware that you wouldn't be able to stand him for long."

"And you... you're a literal king, Klyde! The King of the palace where you found Amari unconscious in." She added, her arms crossed against her chest, and avoided meeting Klyde's glare, after unintentionally raising her voice at him out of frustration. "Just the fact that he managed to enter your castle without leaving a single trace behind really concludes that he didn't want anything less than war and chaos."
