Note: Hank is a male irl, but in this book, the dog is a female and to avoid any misconversions in pronouns, I just decided to stick with the pronouns used in the book :)

Lisa blinked several times, Chaeyoung must have said something else. "Wait what?"
"Marry Me, Lisa."
Okay, she really didn't hear wrong. The smile that Chaeyoung sported was gorgeous, so confident and kind, who could deny a marriage proposal? Except that this was her best friend and this was a terrible joke. Lisa began to laugh pretty loud, bending her spine and holding her stomach by the force of the laughter. "Oh gosh Chaeyoung that is a very horrible joke. HA!"
Lisa shook her head and was about to pour herself more rum as she kept laughing, however, Chaeyoung took the bottle away from her. Her brown eyes were steeled with resolve; her smile gone.
"Chaeyoung?" Lisa erased the smile from her face. It was not appropriate to keep laughing like a moron when her friend was so damn serious. Instead, she glared at the blonde in shock. "You have to be kidding me, right? You're joking."
"Marry me, Lisa." Chaeyoung insisted.
Lisa stood up so fast that she stumbled into the coffee table and almost fell on her ass. She was shaking her head. "No! Chaeyoung, are you drunk? That's ridiculous!"
Chaeyoung stood up, her expression a bit hurt by the fact that her friend thought marrying her was ridiculous, a joke. She reached Lisa's arm. "I'm serious Lis. This is how I can help you. If we marry you get your company back."
"What? This is... this is. Shit Chaeyoung! This is not a game!" Lisa pulled away from her friend. The brunette was completely surprised and definitely not expecting this proposal. "I can't do that. We can't get married."
Chaeyoung crossed her arms, pouting and her heart took another blunt. "Geez thanks Lis. You'd rather fix things with Tzuyu than marry me? I see where your loyalties lie." Chaeyoung turned around and picked up the two glasses to wash them at the kitchen sink.
"What?" Lisa followed Chaeyoung. "Never! Chaeyoung I'm not choosing Tzuyu over you. You know I'd always pick you first. Hell, you're my best friend!" Lisa took Chaeyoung's hands in hers. "I can't do this to you. You're worth more than my company Chaeyoung, I can't." Lisa cupped Chaeyoung's cheek and caressed her softly.
Chaeyoung faced her fully hooking her thumbs on the belt loop of Lisa's pants and bringing them closer. "Why is it such a terrible idea to marry me? We trust each other deeply. I can fulfill the board members conditions, and I won't demand anything from this deal. You're my friend Lis. I do this because I really care for your well-being."
"I know Chaeyoung. You always have good intentions, but I can't let you sacrifice 2 years of your life being stuck with me. Can you imagine playing wives for 2 years in front of the board members and the press? Besides, I still have to find a damn loophole in that clause. There must be something I can do, so don't sweat it, okay?" Lisa tipped Chaeyoung's chin and leaned in to drop a kiss on her cheek.
"Good night, Chaeyoung."
Lisa made her way out of Chaeyoung's apartment to head back to her place. She couldn't believe what just happened. Where had Chaeyoung gotten this crazy idea of getting married? Lisa was desperate, but not that desperate to get back her company. Sacrificing Chaeyoung's freedom to be with someone like her was not fair. Chaeyoung couldn't throw away 2 years of her life in a charade of a marriage. Lisa simply couldn't let her friend ruin her life tying herself to her just to keep the family company. An unnecessary sacrifice that Chaeyoung shouldn't make.
