"Manik aren't you ready.." And rest of her words got stuck in her throat when her eyes met mine.. I was already in my wedding Shervani, all ready to take the big step in my life, all ready to welcome Nandani in my life, I gave a smile to Mom but my eyes almost came out of my socket when I saw her crying. "Oh My god Mom, are you okay?" I asked immediately rushing to her side and she gave me a teary smile that confused me even more.. What's wrong with her?
"I am just too overwhelmed to see you in this attire, I know I have not been the best mother lately, but you have no idea how happy I am too witness this day Manik, You are finally going to start your own family, it's your big day today.." I immediately took her in a hug and let her cry a bit more.. She don't deserve to feel guilty, I know I have been upset with her too lately but finally she is back and I am happy about it...
"So does your son look handsome today?" I asked cockily and she smiled fully this time without a hint of tears, I have missed that smile so much, I have missed her so damn much.. "Of course you are.." She placed a black dot of kohl behind my ear and pecked my forehead lovingly.. And our moment was disturbed by a clearing of throat, I averted my eyes to find my Father looking at both of us with so much love that I literally felt my eyes are deceiving me..
"Am I interrupting the moment.." He asked smilingly and my Mother shake her head in a no, she looked happy around him, it wasn't like before and I guess this change is for good.. "I will go check on Cabir and Mukti, we have to take out the Baraat soon.." She patted his husband shoulder a silent message that was shared between them through eyes and then she left the room, leaving both of us alone.. Well talk about awkward.. He came closer and start fixing my pagdi.. I stood their awkwardly, well it would had been easy if we both shared a normal relationship but we didn't...
"You know when I first met Nandani, I was blown away by her kindness.." He started the conversation and my face turned confused, what the hell is he talking about? As per my knowledge he first met Nandani at her home, when we went to ask for her hand and she was anything but kind at that moment.. "No I met Nandani few months back in a coffee shop nearby our office.." He cleared my confusion reading my thoughts..
"She was there with Janvi, there was this kid outside the shop looking inside with a glint in his eyes, glint and hunger.. Nobody took notice of him but Nandani did and she brought him inside to feed him.. I was mesmerized at the girl's behavior, there were so many rich people there but everyone ignored the kid while she didn't.. Since that day she stir something inside me, I recognized Janvi as your receptionist, so I got to know about Nandani through her.. And when that scandal got viral, I got a chance to make her a part of Kapoor family cause unlike Alya, she was perfect for you, perfect for us.. And I am glad you have happily accepted this decision.."
I couldn't believe my ears, So that was the reason he set me up with Nandani, not because of business, but because he found her good for me.. I don't know what came over me, but I immediately hugged him, the one decision he took on my behalf that proved to be the best, I cannot be anymore happy at his choice.. "Well it's family hug time, come on squeeze three of us too.." Mom came shrieking with Cabir and Mukti and joined us both.. I laughed at her childishness, finally it feels like I have got my whole family back and all thanks to Nandani Sharma, soon to be Kapoor.
