"Happy Birthday, babe," Cedric says on March 5. "You never forget," I say. He grins as he hands me a small box. I open it and there's a framed picture of us from the Yule Ball. "Thank you, babe. This is going on my nightstand," I say. "There's something else in there," Cedric says. I look in the package and something gold slips out. It was a golden locket. "Open it," Cedric says. I open the locket and engraved are the words, I love you forever, babe. Next to it is a moving picture of us. "Do you like it?" Cedric asks. "I love it. You're the best boyfriend a girl could ask for," I tell him. "That's a relief," Cedric says as I put the necklace on.

When the third task comes, Cedric is more nervous than ever. "You'll do fine. I know you'll be awesome," I tell him. Cedric nods. "I'll be cheering for you in the stands," I tell him. Dumbledore tells me I have to go soon. "I'll see you later?" I say. "Wait. Give me a kiss," Cedric says suddenly. I give him a kiss and he kisses me back intently. "Good luck. I'll see you later," I say. "See you later," Cedric says with a smile.

I walk into the stands and I sit down next to Poppy and Heather. "Aren't we awesome? We saved you a great seat," Poppy says. "You guys are very amazing," I tell her. Trumpets start playing as the champions walk into the field. Cedric and Potter enter first. Then Krum. Then Fleur Delacour.

"What are we supposed to do when they're in there," Poppy says, growing impatient already. "Just wait," Heather says.

Hours later, someone appears. The Potter kid. He was sobbing to Dumbledore. Something's wrong. Dumbledore quickly takes his wand and apparates with Professor McGonagall. "What the hell is going on?" Poppy asks. "I have no idea," Heather says in a worried tone. Krum and Fleur exit the maze. "Where's Cedric?" I ask even though they won't know. "There's something wrong," Heather says with finality.

Later, McGonagall calls me over. Before I enter her office, I hear them speaking. "...body not found." "...completely disappeared without a trace." "...Potter said he was killed. How could he have left if he was killed." Cedric was killed? Wait, no. I might have heard wrong. I knock on the door and Professor McGonagall lets me in. "Brooklyn. I am so very sorry to tell you this. But Cedric Diggory was killed."

The next few days were a blur. Heather would always stay beside me with a tub of ice cream. She told me that muggles use this to relieve pain. It only gave me more pain because it was vanilla. The sweet vanilla that Cedric smelled like.

When I finally made my decision, I told my friends. "I'm going to leave the Wizarding World," I tell them. "Where could you possibly go? You have to stay!" Poppy says. Heather only looks at me with sad eyes. "Forks, Washington. It's a nice little town. I could blend in there. I already enrolled in their school," I say. "But Washington is in America! We're in London! That's too far away," Poppy protests. "She made her choice, Poppy. Let her go," Heather says gently. "We'll visit you as often as we can. Here," Heather tells me. She hands me a small mirror. "Call us through here," she says. I promised that I would call them. "I'm going to miss you so much," Heather says, giving me a warm hug. Poppy gives me a hug as well and like that, I left the Wizarding World.

Forks was a particularly rainy place. I laugh to myself as I think back to those hours Cedric and I spent in the rain. I unlock the door to my new home. It wasn't too big. Two stories, modern-looking house with one bathroom, two bedrooms, one living room, and one kitchen. The smallest one I could find. It was also relatively close to the school I enrolled in as well so I didn't need a car. I could get there in ten minutes or so.

My parents had already apparated here to check it out. Obviously, my mother decided to do some decorating. The bed was done and on the nightstand were three pictures. I look closely. One of my family. One of me, Poppy, and Heather. And one of me and Cedric at the Yule Ball. It was the picture Cedric gave me on my birthday. And of course, she had to stock my pantry and fill my closet with clothes. I look at a particular light yellow one. Cedric's Quidditch hoodie. I sigh.

On my first day of school, I walk into the office to get my schedule. I take a seat in the back for Spanish. The girl in front of me turns around. "Hello. I'm Jessica Stanley," she says. "Brooklyn," I say giving her a small smile. "I also go by Jess. What about you? Any nicknames?" she asks. "Brooke," I tell her.

At lunch, Jessica sits down next to me. "So. What school did you transfer from?" she asks me. Kinda reminds me of Annabel. Talks too much. "Oh, um, just some private school in London," I tell her. "You have really pretty hair," she tells me. She takes a strand and puts it next to her hair. "Angela, how would I look with this hair?" she asks the girl across from us. "I like your natural hair better," Angela says. "The Cullens are here again. Ugh. Edward is looking as gorgeous as ever," Jessica says. "You say that every day," Angela points out. Yep. Jessica is the muggle version of Annabel. Ugh. Now I'm thinking about Cedric again. "He's staring at you," Jessica says. "Who?" I ask. "Edward Cullen," Jessica says. "Oh," I say, not bothering to look up. "What's your next class?" Angela asks. "Biology," I say. What a weird word.

I walk into Biology and the teacher seats me next to some guy I don't acknowledge. "Hello," he says after a while. "H-" I look up. This guy looked just like Cedric Diggory. Except his hair wasn't as neat.
