"Stilinski, right?" The nurse typed quickly, "You said his insurance was with the county? He's a deputy?"
Stiles threw his hands in front of him, "No, he's the sheriff! He's the county, Sheriff, okay?! He's covered. I mean, he should be covered."
"I'll take care of it." Melissa's voice rang behind us, washing a sense of relief over me. "Thank you." She said, grabbing the clipboard off of the desk.
From what Stiles had told me, Sheriff had been attacked pretty badly, but he had thankfully found him responsive and in time to get him to the hospital. As soon as I found out I rushed to meet him, hoping with everything in me that everything was going to be okay.
But I could feel it, deep down in my gut just sitting there taunting me. Trying to push away the feeling was worthless, it was there and I knew exactly what it meant. Sheriff was dying. There was no denying it, especially after hearing what the nurses kept saying to Stiles, I think he could even feel it.
But we couldn't give up hope, they could save him before it was too late.
"I text Scott and he's coming as soon as he can. Do you guys want me to call anyone else?"
Stiles shook his head quickly, rapid breaths escaping from his lips. "No, no, no. Please don't call anyone."
"Is there anyone else we need to notify? A next of kin?" The nurse at the desk asked from behind us.
"No, it's me...it's just me."
Melissa guided us to the waiting area, motioning for Stiles to take a seat. "I'll keep you updated whenever I hear something, okay? I promise. For now, we wait, but they are going to do whatever they can for him and I'll be sure of it."
Stiles just nodded as he took a seat while tears began to form in his eyes. Mama McCall rubbed his shoulder before she began to walk towards the double doors, but I was quick to follow. "Melissa..." She turned to face me. "Please..."

"I know..." I didn't have to say it, she knew what I was feeling. "He's going to be okay, understand? So...just...ignore whatever you need to ignore and be there for Stiles." With that she was back making her way through the double doors.
I watched the doors close before turning back towards where Stiles was seated, quickly taking the spot directly next to him. It's moments like these where you don't really know what to say, sometimes you just need to sit there and let the silence do the speaking until someone else breaks.
"He's dying...isn't he?" He kept his head down, eyes focused on the floor as he rested his forehead on his clasped hands. "You don't even have to answer that...I can tell, it's like I can feel it too." His voice cracked as I watched him wipe a tear quickly from his cheek. "You should go be with your mom and Lydia-"
