The Surrogate Proposal

Chapter Twenty-five

Gina opened her eyes and every where is turning around.

She closed her eyes again and opened it. She felt someone looking over at her.
She heard a loud sound in her ears and closed her eyes again. Then she saw Seth, then Tricia

The gun!

She got up immediately,

"Regina what are you doing? Just lay back down!",

"Stephanie? Se-Seth...Seth...where's Seth?", She asked,
"Just! Lay back down, he's fine!", Stephanie shouted.
Gina calmed for some minutes, trying to remember what happened.
Tricia had shot Seth, she saw her pull the trigger, but....no wait, she actually pulled the trigger and Seth ran into it

It would've been me

She felt her body shudder.
"I want to see him",
"You can't",
"Why?",
"Well...last I heard, he's in the surgery",
"Omg, how long have I been here?",
"Just few hours"
"Like how-never mind", she got off the bed and pulled everything off,
"For goodness sake Gina, that man is dangerous, you've almost died twice, no three times! counting the risk of pregnancy you took. My advice as a sister, let's just leave this place, close the deal and go back home", Steph adviced.

Gina turned around to face her,
"Risk? Advice?! Leave? Back home?! Did you even hear what you just said? Stephanie! This!this is my life and am going to live it the way I've been living it without your advice. You need to advice yourself first", she wanted to say more but then Seth,

What if he's in danger?

"Just leave without me, I need to figure out what to do with my life first", she said and left.

She asked the nurses and they directed her to his room. She rushed without thinking.

She pushed the door open without knocking. Seth was sitting on the bed, his back  facing the door.
He and the doctor he's with turned to know who barged in.

Their eyes met and the doctor told Seth something and he nodded. Then the doctor walked out.

Seth turned to face her. His arm was tied to his neck with a bandage.
Gina took few steps closer then stopped,
"hey", she said,
"Hey", he replied,
She pointed to his hand, "it could've killed you",
"Yes"
Gina nodded, "thanks", she whispered,
"What?",
"Thank you",
Seth nodded, followed by an awkward silence.

Seth rubbed gently on the bandage, thinking of what else to say.
"So..when are you going to be discharged?",
"Am leaving today",
"What, why?",
He tried to lift his arm and felt pain,
"See, you need to stay for few more days",
"I have things to do",
Gina didn't reply and he looked at her, " I'll receive home treatment",
"Will that be enough?",
"It's not your problem",
The door opened and Liam walked in.
"Hel-lo", he said and gave Gina a hug,
"Hey",
"How are you feeling?",
"Am good, just a little pain in my ankle".

Seth watched them for a while as they talked as if they've known forever. He thought he should've asked her how she's doing first.
But most importantly, what next?

He had stupidly said something about loving her, now what?
He's not the type to take the first step and they are both different in all aspects.

The door was pushed open and Toby barged in. He rushed to Gina,
"Are you okay, did you get hurt, does anywhere hurt", He asked turning Gina around,
"T-Toby! Am fine, how did you know am here?",
"Steph called in and told me you were in danger",
"What?",
"Am glad you're okay", he said and hugged her, that's when he noticed Seth and Liam.
