DO YOU EVER feel like time is moving forward without you? The world continues to spin, time rapidly passing by, and all you're capable of doing is watching, unable to care. And it's not that you don't want to, it's that you physically and emotionally cannot gather the energy to revert to the present. It feels like something is weighing you down, with no amount of force able to push it off.

Well, that's exactly how Annabelle had felt this past week, having to endure the mental pain of sitting through seven torturous hours of five entire school days alongside people she could hardly tolerate. It was already a part of her daily routine that she dreaded in the past, but with the anxiousness that was currently setting her body ablaze, she feared she'd crumble to pieces any second now.

To make matters worse, that weight only grew heavier when she stepped into the two-story mansion, her body tired from having been forced out of bed at six o'clock in the morning to haul herself to school. All she wanted was to fall into her comfortable mattress, faux sheepskin blanket pressed up against her body as she fell into a deep slumber, her energy regenerating so that she'd be ready to take on her shift at the country club later that evening.

Yup, you heard that correctly. Annabelle Monroe was still an employee at the restaurant despite her days of absence. All it took was a small lie that she had fallen sick for an entire week to convince Christopher Reynolds that she was still very much worthy of waitressing around one of the tourist hotspots in the Outer Banks. Though, if you would've told the bitchier version of herself from a month and a half ago that she'd be working a part-time job, and that she'd willingly be asking for that said job back after failing to accommodate to her given work schedule, she would've thought that there something seriously wrong with the way your brain was wired.

Deciding it'd be best to pull away from her train of thoughts, Annabelle let out a heavy sigh, her gaze wandering towards the suitcase placed by the imperial staircase. She knew exactly who the luggage belonged to and judging by the quiet chatter that carried out through the air from the kitchen and into the living room area, that meant that Sandra was finally back on the island after having left for New York the past week, and she definitely wasn't alone.
