Wonder Woman 1984 is a DC film and the ninth installment in the DCEU as it is directed by Patty Jenkins and released in 2020 on HBO Max and in theaters as it's the first film to be released like that by Warner Bros. This film seems to get too much hate, but it's honestly not a terrible film as I enjoyed it, even after a second viewing of it.
Gal Gadot returns as Wonder Woman and once again is wonderful in the role. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor and once again steals the show as he is amazing in the film. The film also stars Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig as Max Lord and Cheetah and they were great in the film. Pascal also steals the show since he's currently the Man, this is the way.
The film is about Diana facing off Max Lord and Cheetah as Steve Trever mysteriously returns. The film is set in 1984 so it was interesting seeing the 80s be explored. One thing I loved about the film is the hopeful tone throughout it as how she would inspire many. I just wish we can get a Henry Cavill Superman film like that. The film had great action scenes too. The scenes between Diana and Steve are truthfully the best as their relationship is great throughout the film.
The film does have its flaws. This is a long movie and there are times where it can drag. I felt Cheetah wasn't necessarily needed for the film. Like if they took her out then it wouldn't change a thing. But Barbara felt more important than Cheetah. There are several shots that looked out of place. There are also lots of cliché moments that can be a bit too much.
Overall it's good, but could be better. I do not hate the film as many seem to do on here. Rewatching it a second was fun too. I feel like this film is over-hated and it doesn't deserve the hate as it's a good film.
