The Incredible Hulk is the second installment in the MCU directed by Louis Leterrier as it was released in 2008. This was a reboot of the Ang Lee film and from this whole MCU universe this is sadly the least important, but at the same time it was not the best, it was not the worst, it was just okay. But it is my least favorite MCU film.
The film stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/ The Hulk and he was great in the film. Out of all the MCU films though I prefer how this Hulk was like. This film had the best version of Hulk. The film also stars Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as General Ross, and Tim Roth as the Abomination. I thought the supporting cast such as Hurt and Roth just nailed it as their characters.
The film is about Bruce Banner who becomes the Hulk is on the run as the military is wanting to use the gamma radiation in him to weapons, so he begins to try to cure himself. What I liked is that the origin story is in the opening credits. I also liked how there was a bit of a horror aspect with the Hulk when we first see him on-screen. Also, the action scenes with the Hulk were great in it, especially the final fight.
This film does have its flaws though. It doesn't age well. The CGI in the film didn't really age well as rewatching it now it's super noticeable. It's not memorable, just a few scenes in it but that's it. While the cast is good, no one really felt they own the role like how RDJ proved he is actually Tony Stark.
Overall The Incredible Hulk is a good film, just not great. Nothing stands out as amazing. But the way this film is, it feels like it's a standalone, especially with Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton who are both completely different from each other. But thinking about it, it does still tie into it with William Hurt returning as General Ross in Civil War and characters returning in the She-Hulk series.
