AN: This book begins in The Half-Blood Prince in November (so when Ron and Lavender kissed in front of Hermione) anyway, enjoy!!

"Silly little girl- what did we tell you about taking too much of what you're giving?" The scaley mermaid hissed, her bright red eyes looking right at Cordelia's bright doe ones. She was being cornered by 4 sirens. When she didn't answer, one of the mermaids snapped at her

"Hey! What are you? deaf?" a laugh erupted in the small crowd- each second, they would somehow get closer and closer and she felt more trapped, her bareback hitting the sharp rocks and emitting sparks of pain.

"I was just hungry - you don't give me enough food" she whimpered, shivering from fear.

"W-w-we don't give her enough -ff-food" the creatures mockingly pouted "Pathetic! You're lucky we even let you live here," one of them said, reaching out for ropes.

"What are those for?" Cordelia eyed, shaking at the sight. She knew exactly what this meant, she just hoped she was wrong

"Oh come on dear, we've gone through this, you make a mistake, and you get punished," they said. 2 of them managed to grab Cordelia as she struggled to get out of their grip- but couldn't. She screamed and shouted as they wrapped her 2 arms above her head on the leg of the dock, along with her tail. The more she tried to kick, the tighter they wrapped the ropes around her, eventually, she accepted her debt and stopped her moving

Those monsters promised her if she was good, they would let her watch the Gryffindor VS Slytherin match today for the first time. although, they promised this many times before, and always found some sort of excuse to get her not to go

"But today is the match! you promised if I was good you'd let me watch them play!" She whined. The Sirens gave her a sarcastic apologetic look

"Stop whining or we'll leave you here for 2 days instead of one" One of them threatened, glaring daggers at her. She stayed silent while still whimpering from the pain she was feeling because of how tight the robes were. They all laughed at her and left her there. alone. with the chance of anyone seeing her. but maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing

Cordelia couldn't see anything from the match, but she could hear from a distance, which was enough for her. Apparently, the Gryffindor team won- she didn't know much about houses, but she did know there were 4, from spying on the humans, she knew there were at least 4.

A raven, a badger, a lion, and a snake- she had no clue what the names were, they were always too complex and hard to remember. Cordelia enjoyed listening to the Badgers. She admired their loyalty and generosity. The snakes- not so much, mostly because most of the boys from that house would be the ones harassing her behind her back, or catcalling her.

The sun was now setting, it had been two hours, and she was still tied up, her arms sore from the contact between the ropes and her fragile hands. Cordelia tried to wiggle out of the tightrope, but it only caused painful friction. She could swear she felt small sparks go off from the abrasion. Her pain became easier to get used to as it increased. She had to accept her fate, but this was no faith. This was pure torture

The tall boy, now as thin as a piece of thread and his skin- less pale than it was grey- stood at the edge of the railing, gripping the metal with his hand. The weight of his task was pushing him down more and more, by the end of the year, he was sure he would reach below Professor Flitwick's height.

His now signature smirk began to look like a scowl. He was shipwrecked. Miserable. Every sorrowful feeling in the world, he was carrying on his shoulders.

Draco knew if he stayed longer on the astronomy tower, he'd jump off, and he wasn't kidding. But he can't- he can't just give up on life (as much as he wanted to) and fail his task, he can't have his mother killed because of him

He made his way down to the black lake. a place he doesn't usually visit during the night. but when he did, it was quiet and peaceful. All his thoughts and worries seemed to fall out of his mind, drifting into the cold wind. To prevent getting his expensive suit filthy from the grass, he sat down at the end of the dock, his feet hanging from his seat.

The lake looked like the sky, reflecting everything onto the surface. The stars, the moon, the trees, everything. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxing. He'd be able to fall asleep like a baby if he had a blanket and some pillows.

The blonde boy flinched when he heard a muffled sob come from below- no one was here, or at least, that's what he thought.

He stood up from the dock, pulling out his wand slowly, preparing for whatever was out there. When he didn't hear any ruffling from the bushes or any other sobs, he took this as his cue to get back to the castle. The sun was practically rising at this point

...

Footsteps were felt vibrating the hard wooden slab- Cordelia began to panic. She was on the leg of the dock, if any human were to look down, they'd see her tied up and capture her. The humans' legs dangled off the dock. They were wearing all black. black shoes, black socks, black trousers. The human began to slightly rock their legs back and forth, almost hitting her head- she let out a small sob being too scared to get captured. She saw the humans rise from their seats and walk towards the castle. She couldn't see anything, but she hoped they were gone.

The sun was now setting, and a purple hue was painting her pale fingers. Her hand was now swollen and numb. As all hope was almost lost, she saw something come her way.

One of the saltwater mermaids came with a dagger- 'This is it' Cordelia thought 'I'm going to get murdered today, wouldn't be so bad seeing my luck'

To her surprise, the other mermaid was cutting off the ropes that were almost strangling her blood flow

"Why are you helping me?" she whispered, shivering from the grey November cold. after a longing silence, all the ropes were cut off and she was finally free. Cordelia didn't know what to do. She wanted to hug her, hold her, thank her, anything.

But instead, she swam away swiftly to her hidden pit, massaging her arms and scales with a 'Roller-thingy' which was really a spoon, but she didn't know that. How could she? She was just a mermaid, after all.
