ELLIE'S POV

I woke up hearing the door close, It was Logan.

LOGAN'S POV

I came back, my eyes red from crying. I grabbed Ellie's guitar and started playing a song, Joel had taught me how to play back in Boston.

"If I ever were to lose you
I'd surely lose myself
Everything I have found dear
I've not found by myself
Try and sometimes you'll succeed
To make this man of me
All my stolen missing parts
I've no need for anymore
I believe
And I believe 'cause I can see
Our future days
Days of you and me"

ELLIE'S POV

He was playing the song, but how did he know...?

LOGAN'S POV

We were at Joel's grave, Dina was with us too.

I sat there, touching the dirt in front of his headstone.
"Thank you. For everything, Joel. You saved me in more ways you could ever know. You're the reason I found Ellie again. I'll miss you forever." I stood up, hands in my pockets, staring down.
"Fuck."

Dina and Ellie had already sat at Joel's grave, so when I got up they started slowly walking away.

"You know, I can go alone. Save you guys the risk." Ellie said and I kept looking at the ground.
"Ellie, we talked about this." Dina put her hand on Ellie's back.
"Yeah I know, I just... I can't risk losing you. Losing Joel..." Ellie's voice began to crack.
"I've already lost a lot."
I overheard they're conversation but didn't say anything.

"You go, I go."

Dina put her hand on Ellie's cheek.

It burned me on the inside but I stayed quiet.

"I want to stop at Joel's house before we leave." Ellie said to Dina.

I kept following in silence

We walked down the street, Joel's house being close to the cemetery. There were cards and flowers surrounding the door and front steps.

As we walked onto the door step, Ellie went to open the door, but her hand was shaking.

"What do you guys need, I can go get it." Dina offered but Ellie said we can go, and that we're okay.

"I'm gonna hang down here." We nodded at Dina.

As we looked around we saw things that reminded us of good times we had with Joel.
Ellie picked up a small book and said some weird word.
"Deinonychus"

I began to walk upstairs, seeing framed pictures of Joel and Ellie, before I came back. Seeing a picture of Joel and Sarah, before it all went to shit. At least they're together.
Ellie came upstairs too, looking around, finding a box on his bed.
I walked into his closet, and put on his brown jacket. Joel and I were the same size, and I wanted to have something to remember him.

"Logan, look."
She showed me the box.

(flashback)

"Hey Joel?" Joel turned to me as we were finishing a deal we had just made with a client from the warehouse district, back in Boston.
"Yeah?"
"Why do you wear that watch even if it's broken?"
"Um... Sarah gave it to me, the day it all happened." He had just opened up to me about Sarah the week before.
"Oh. Reminds you of her?"
"Yeah."

(present day)

"Joel's watch." I picked it up.
"You should put it in your bag." I told Ellie and she put it in her bag. She turned around to see me in his jacket.
She hugged me, sniffing the jacket, trying to remember Joel's smell.

"Hey guys?!" We heard Dina's voice come from downstairs.
"Yeah?!" I shouted
"Can you come down here, please?"
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah, just come on down."
It took me a little bit to walk down cause of my
leg.

We went downstairs and saw Maria, she was holding a note.

"Maria?" I was confused as to why she was there.

She ignored me and read from the letter.

"Maria, I wish I could let this go but I can't. I'm heading to Seattle, I have to bring these people to justice. Logan and Ellie are going to try to stop me. Don't let them. Lock up they're guns, lock up the horses, maybe lock them up."
She looked at the both of us.
"He's gonna get himself killed!" Maria's face showed worry for Tommy.
"He should've taken us with him." Ellie chimed in.
"You should've given a group to go after those fuckers!" I said, slight irritated.
"Wish I could." Maria put her hands on the dining table.
She turned towards Dina.
"You going with them?"
"Yeah."
"So what're you guys gonna do? Sneak on out of here?"
"Yeah." I crossed my arms.
"On foot?"
"Yeah."
"What about your leg?"
"I'll manage."
There was a silence.
"I told the stables to let you out with your horse."
I relaxed my arms as I felt that i was getting tense.
"Just, bring my dumbass husband back in one piece please."
"Of course." Ellie said, in a soft tone.
"Thank you Maria." Dina said as Ellie and I looked at each other.
"Get moving, you're- you're losing light." Maria sounded choked up with her words.

--Time Skip--

I was in the front, Ellie behind me, and Dina at the end.

"Joel couldn't get to his gun, and someone was strangling him. I didn't think, just grabbed his gun and shot the guy in the face."
"Wow, how old were you?"
Dina and Ellie were talking about the first time they killed someone.
"14."
"Jesus."
"What about you?"
"Some guy was coming at my mom, so I stabbed him. I was 10."
I just listened, staying in silence.
"What about you, Logan?" Dina caught my attention.
I was going to start talking but, Ellie cut me off.
"Oh! I think i know this. You were 12 right?"
I laughed silently.
"No, Ellie. Much younger."
"Really?!" I felt the weight shift on the horse a bit as she leaned to the side to look at me.
"I was 8. Some guy killed my father, so i tracked his horse tracks, waited for him to sleep and stabbed him in the neck."
"Holy shit." Dina sounded baffled.
"Wow." So did Ellie.
"Yeah, some dark shit." I said and it grew quiet for a little, until Dina spoke.

"So how lost are we?" Dina asked.
"Umm... we're not." I said somewhat playfully.
"Really?" Dina didn't believe me.
"Yeah, I know where we are."
It grew quiet again.

"You know, maybe it was those black market smugglers in boston, that did it." Dina tried to guess who killed Joel.
"Robert's guys? No, definitely not." I answered.
"Maybe those cannibals?" Dina kept guessing.
"No, didn't seem like the same group."

As we kept going, i started to sing.
