I was playing the guitar on the porch. There was a light breeze, Ellie and Dina were inside with JJ.

I saw Tommy's horse come up the hill. I put the guitar down and stood up as he got up to the front of the house.

"Hey Tommy."
"Hey Logan."
We hugged, it had been a few months since we had seen each other.
"How's the eye?" I said looking at his eye, it was fogged out.
"Can't really see out of it but it's okay."
I nodded.
"Come in." I put my hand on his back as I opened the door.

"Tommy!" Dina said in excitement, grabbing JJ.
"Look its uncle Tommy!" Ellie said poking the baby.

Dina handed JJ to Tommy to carry.
He played with the kid for a few minutes.

"How's Maria?" I asked.
"Uhm, we're taking some time apart."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Nah, it's okay, we both wanted it."

"So what brings you through here?" Ellie chimed in.
Dina grabbed JJ from Tommy as he stood up.

"Well, here take a look at this." He pulled out a map of California.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Someone found her, the girl. Said she's in Santa Barbara."
My hands started shaking as he mentioned Abby.
"Tommy. We're done with that." Dina said, sternly.
"Bullshit, Logan told me that he was going to make her pay."
"Yeah that was months ago, Tommy." Ellie chimed in, trying to protect me.
"Are you kidding me? After all we have been through, now you wanna chicken out huh? Unbelievable." Tommy walked outside enraged.
"Be right back." Ellie said calmly as she followed Tommy.
I could make out what they were saying but it was muffled.
"Hey what the fuck Tommy?"
"What?"
"You don't come into my house and start saying shit like that!"
"Alright, alright. I'm leaving."
Ellie walked back in and slammed the door.
She was super angry with Tommy. Rightfully so, but I just went out the back to get some air.

"Holy shit." I said under my breath.

I heard footsteps, seeing Ellie's shoes next to me as I just looked down, catching my breath.

"Babe?" Ellie started talking but I didn't answer.
She grabbed my arm and shook it lightly.
"Logan?" She sounded like she could cry.
I didn't say anything and just looked at her, pulling her into a hug.
"Are you okay?" She asked me.
I didn't answer, and just gripped her tight.
Her grip got tighter around my body, as I could feel her begin to cry.

"fuck." I said as we stood there hugging.

After a few minutes, Ellie stopped crying and as I pulled away from the hug, I kissed behind her ear.

"You haven't done that in a while." She gave me a small smile, looking into my eyes.
"Well I don't want your favorite spot to be kissed, to lose it's special feelings." I said, clearing my throat.
"I love you Ellie."
She hugged me, and kissed my neck.
"Good."

Walking back inside, I sat at the dining table. Dina sat down too, handing me JJ to help me feel better. I put him on my knee, bouncing.
Ellie stood behind me with her hands on my shoulder.

"So. Now what do we do?" Dina asked, breaking the silence.
"Uhm. I don't know."
"Fucking Tommy." Ellie said under her breath.
"I think I'm gonna go." I said, gauging both of their attention.
"You go, I go." Ellie added.
"You guys don't owe Tommy anything."
"I have to do this." I started to talk, looking down at the table.
"We have a family, Logan." Dina protested.
Ellie stayed quiet.
"I can't stop, thinking about it. About Seattle. I'm not like you Dina."
"What? For you two and JJ, I deal with it."
I stayed silent.
"So what? I'm supposed to stay here, thinking you both are dead the entire time?" Dina was getting irritated.
"I don't plan on dying."
"Yeah, well neither did Jesse. Or Joel." When she said that i got really angry, but i didn't say anything, getting up, starting to walk out the front door. I gave JJ to Ellie.
"Logan, hey." Dina grabbed my arm.
"Please don't go." She turned me around.
I stayed quiet and she turned around.
I walked outside, sitting on the porch, playing the guitar.

"If I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself."

I put my head on the guitar, hearing the door open. Ellie walked next to me, sitting on the porch steps with me.

"That's quite the sunset." I said looking at the sky.
"Yeah."
"Ellie, you know I don't want to lose you."
"I don't want to lose you either."
"So why aren't you staying here, with Dina and JJ?"
"Because, you go, I go, end of story."
I sniffed, holding back my tears.

I started playing the guitar again.

"If I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself. Everything I have found here, I've not found by myself. Try and sometimes you'll succeed, to make this man of me. All my stolen missing parts, I've no need for anymore."
I mimicked Joel's voice, it always made Ellie laugh.

"You're kind of like a 22 year old version of Joel." Ellie said as she rested her head on my shoulder.
"Well, he was like a father to me."
"Yeah, me too."

We sat there in silence, the only sounds were the guitar, and the wind.

"When do we leave?" Ellie asked, breaking the silence.

"I was thinking tomorrow night, gives us time to get ready."
"Okay."
There was a pause.
"What about Dina?" I broke the silence.
"I don't know." She said.

I started strumming on the guitar, not knowing what to say. I loved the family we had become, but I can't just have that information and do nothing about it.
