Avengers Guarded

Ch. 10 "Gone"

                                                  Cody POV 

It had been a few weeks since I've learned the truth, but I pretended like I didn't know a thing, I've grown rather closer to all the Avengers, 

Including Tony I guess me and Tony have a few things in common, the smarts, the ideas, the sarcasm, 

I don't tell anyone about the beatings from Denis, and I don't intend to, it was early this morning when I got the call, 

The call that would change my life, 

I raced to get dressed I sprinted out of the house in the pouring rain but I didn't care, I ran in the hospital to the desired floor, to my mom's room, 

Her breathing was shallow, and slow, 

I was in the door way, the Nurse was standing by me, 

"I'm sorry sweetheart but she doesn't have long," She said 

I nodded, 

I walked into the room grabbing her hand with both of mine, 

"Hello sweetheart," Mom said 

"Hey, mom," I said tears welling up in my eyes, 

"Oh sweetheart don't cry," She said weakly 

"I can't... I can't do this without you," I said as I started sniffling 

"Yes, you can," She said with shallow breath, 

"I'm so proud of you, and I will always love you sweetheart," She said 

"I love you too," I said the tears falling down my cheeks, 

"Be strong and don't lose your way alright," She said 

I nodded, 

her eyes slowly fluttered shut, and the machine made the noise, the noise of her flat lining, 

"Mom, mom," I said 

I still held her hand while pressing my forehead on her arm as I let go, crying uncontrollably early being able to breath, my chest and shoulders heaving up and down at a rapid pace as I cried, 

I don't know how long I was there for but it was night by the time I left the building, I walked home in the rain, I went to my room, I was staring at everything that was on top of my dresser awards, figurines bottles, I took my arm across it, knocking everything to the floor, I pushed my dresser over I pulled my covers off the bed flipping the mattress, 

I looked in the mirror in my bathroom smashing it with something that was close by, knocking everything off the counters, 

I was definitely having a mental break down, I couldn't handle this, I couldn't process this, I punched the wall continuously, 

I grabbed a back pack and stuffed a few articles of clothing in it, a picture of me and mom before she met Denis and walked out of the house, 

There was no going back after this, I went to the warehouse sitting in the corner of the room with my knees to my chest, I made sure the defenses were up so no one would come in, and I just sat there and cried, and cried 

                                         Tony POV 

I was at my desk, when the phone rang, it was happy, 

"Umm, Tony Cody, she's wasn't at school today," Happy said 

"What?" I said 

"Yeah, I waited and she never came out so I asked one of the professors, they said she called out sick today something about her mother," Happy said 

My eyes widen, 

I quickly called the hospital asking them to speak to Cami, 

"I'm sorry sir she passed away this morning," The nurse said 

My eyes widen again, 

I rushed down the stairs, taking one of my car's to her place, I knocked no answer the door was cracked open, 

"Cody? kid you home?" I asked 

I walked up the stairs finding a door that said keep out, pretty much screaming teenager's room, I opened the door, I gasped at the condition, I've been in here before when she gave me a part I needed and it was so organized, 

But now everything was either smashed, knocked over, or ripped, I went into the bathroom the mirror was shattered, everything was knocked to the ground, 

I rushed out of the house, 

"Friday do a city wide scan for Cody Rory," I said 

"Starting City scan," The AI said 

I called Steve, 

"Hello," He said 

"Steve get everyone in the conference room I'll be there shortly," I said
