Avengers Guarded

Ch. 22 "Attitude"

                                                 Tony POV 

I walked into the main room where Fury was standing there looking at something in his hand looking completely stunned, 

I just got my suit taken off in the lab not even a few minutes ago, 

"Where is she?" I asked 

"I don't know but you better try to get her on this team, in all my years I haven't seen anyone hack into a system that fast," Fury said 

I smirked 

"Was that a compliment?" I asked 

"Not directed towards you Stark," He said and walked off, 

"FRIDAY where is Cody?" I said 

"She left the building three minutes ago," FRIDAY said 

"What?" I said walking off to go find her, 

                                Cody POV 

I had to get some air after that, now he knows what I can do his insistence is going to get worse, 

I have no intentions of doing so, I have far more better uses for my time, I thought as I sat on a bench in the park, with the crutches next to me, 

I had a advanced chemistry book in my lap as I read, I had an exam next week, I can't let any of these distractions throw me off track, 

I had my legs laying across the bench, sunglasses on since it was pretty nice out, 

I turned the page too wrapped up in the book to notice a shadow looming over me, I peeked over my sunglasses to see Tony, 

"Can I help you?" I asked 

"Yes in a matter of fact you can," He said 

I arched my brow, 

"Why did you leave without telling anyone?" He asked not sounding happy, 

"I was not aware that I needed permission to leave," I said with a bit of sarcasm

"Yes you do you are thirteen," He said 

"Yes thirteen not three I don't need a babysitter," I said as I looked down at the book turning the page, 

"Don't give me that tone of voice," He said 

"Well I'm merely stating the obvious," I said 

Okay sure I sound like I'm being a moody teenager, but no its worse than that, I just like outsmarting people I take great joy in that, especially adults, 

Tony sighed, 

"Come on Cody lets get back," He said 

"No I think I'll stay," I said turning the page again,

Suddenly the book is slammed shut, 

"What the hell?" I said glaring at him, 

"Hey don't use that language young lady," He said 

I just rolled my eyes, 

"So now your going to tell me how I am allowed to talk?" I said crossing my arms, 

"You bet your ass I am," He said 

I glared at him, 

"Look I get it, a lot has happened but there is no-" He began 

"Look I'm going to stop you right there, we are not having this conversation," I said getting up grabbing my crutches 

Okay so yes the sting of my mother dying is still  there so anyone who brings that up gets my harshness, and lets not even get me started on Denis, 

I hobbled away, 

I never show how I'm feeling often normally I bury myself in school or something else to keep my mind off of that, and I'm determined to keep it that way, 

Tony was walking next to me, 

I looked at him while he was too wrapped up in his thoughts, 

This is going to be an adjustment that's all I know, I thought
