Ch. 34 "Chance"

                                           Cody POV 

I must say this is becoming very tiresome. being stuck in this bed. every move I make being monitored. 

I get it he's concerned I had one tiny nightmare and now he's blowing this way out proportion. 

I am currently sitting up in the bed sipping on some OJ Peter fetched me. we were watching tv. but I wasn't really paying attention. 

I sighed setting the drink down. 

"Everything alright?" Peter asked looking over at me. 

I arched my brow. 

"I mean from the obvious." He said quickly 

I smirked and chuckled 

I looked down at my hands making fists as I held on to the scratchy blankets. 

"I'm just so over being in this damn bed." I mumbled 

I pulled the covers off of me. 

"In a matter of fact I'm done with it." I said pulling all the wires off of me. 

I yanked the IV out of my arm. 

"Cody! Stop!" Peter said freaking out. 

I stood up listening to all the machines flat line in the background. 

"Look I am not made of glass. sure my stepdad beat the snot out of me again. but I'm not some fragile little girl that is going to shatter." I said 

I started walking down the hall. 

Okay, Okay limping down the hall. 

"If Mr Stark finds out-" Peter said 

"He'll what?" I said 

Peter gulped 

I hear someone clear their throat from behind me. 

"He's... standing right behind me isn't he.." I mumbled 

Peter nodded. 

I turn around looking up at him. he had his arms crossed and he did not look happy. Steve and Bucky were standing next to him.

"What are you doing out of bed?" He said 

"Look it's been two week. I think it's safe to say I've stayed in bed long enough." I said 

"I don't think so your injuries are still life threatening." Tony said 

"Look I get it your concerned but treating me like glass isn't going to help any of us." I said 

"Kids got a point." Bucky said 

"Bucky not now." Steve said 

"No but you resting-" Tony began. 

"I've had enough rest. in fact I've had enough to last me a life time." I said crossing my arms. 

"Don't you take that tone with me young lady." Tony said 

"Or what you'll send me to my room?" I said

"Cody." Peter began

"No, I'm done resting." I said about to walk past Tony but he grabbed my wrist. 

"Can we talk.." He looked at me then everyone around us. 

"Privately." He said 

I sighed and nodded following him. 

He took me to his office.

"Sit." He said 

I sat in one of his chairs. 

"Cody I get you are sick of laying around but what else is bothering you?" He asked 

"Nothing." I mumbled crossing my arms. 

"Cody.." Tony said sternly 

"Look I'm just tired of everyone looking at me like I'm about to shatter. so I got knocked around no big deal I've been through it before. I'm not made of glass." I mumbled 

"It is a big deal Cody you shouldn't have had to go through it at all. and the reason everyone is looking at you like that is because they understand. they want to help." Tony said sitting next to me. 

I looked out the window. 

"At lease give this a chance. a chance to set in. a chance to be apart of something bigger." Tony said placing his hand on top of my hand. 

"And let me help you." He said 

I sighed 

"Fine. but no more bed." I said 

"As long as you agree to take it easy." He said 

"Deal." I said 

He chuckled 

with that we walked out of the room. hopping that this would be good for us. hopping I can get a second chance at a normal life. I thought
