Arrival of response

Days have past and still, there was no response from father! 'What ifs...' filled my thoughts every night which left me a lot of sleepless nights.

I'm doubting that my letter might be intercepted, did Athanasia knew about the letter, and prevent it from reaching father?

No. Even if I envy her, she wouldn't do that..., right?

I saw a maid passing by and I just had to ask. I reached for her arm to stop her from walking away.

"Excuse me, has father received my letter?"

She looked at me then answered.

"No word has been received yet, princess. No one knows if His Majesty has received it."

I got anxious.

"Go to the knights and ask who I ordered to deliver the letter, and know if he even delivered it."

The maid just nodded and bowed. Even if they don't like me, they can't ignore my orders since I'm still royal.

I went back to my chamber and tried to do my remaining homework while my anxiousness still lingers around me.

After a while, a maid walked in and was about to clean my chambers, but I ordered her to bring me tea and snacks which she nodded and went out.

After a few years, maids are still unable to open up to me. I was hoping that they could at least a little bit open to me, but they didn't.

Up until I gave up that thought and just improved myself to be able to be called worthy of being a princess. Much worthy instead of Athanasia.

Based on what I heard before, it looks like it didn't matter who is the oldest, it's between knowledge, power and connections.

I'm hoping that at my debutante ball, I could interact with high society's noblewoman and get an advantage to gather up a bit of connection than her.

A few minutes later the maid walked in with tea and treats, she then went on her work of cleaning while I eat and do my homework.

Time has passed and I just sat there even when I have finished everything, my homework and my snacks.

looking at the window I can still clearly see all the guards roaming around the ruby palace.

I sighed and laid my head down on the desk, not noticing that I fell asleep.

I woke up by the slight shake on my shoulder and saw the stoic face of the head maid of the Ruby Palace.

"Princess, dinner is ready, please wake up."

I sat straight up and stretched my body a bit. I stood up and head straight to the dining room.

Once I sat down they prepared my table setting, and food got out of the kitchen. I ate in silence, not noticing that someone had entered the dining room, and was waiting for me.

After eating I stood up and turned around and what I saw made me flinched.

"Ahh! H-how long have you been there?!"

"Forgive me, princess, a letter has arrived from His Majesty." He said while reaching out a letter that is placed on a silver tray.

I reached out the letter and saw the seal. It's a seal of the Emperor.

I nodded at him and dismissed him which he obliged. I was left standing with a letter from my father.
