CH. 26 - The night before...

The night before...

"How long are you going to stare at me?"

"I don't know, you guess."

Athanasia looked over to his side and saw Lucas shamelessly staring at her while eating the snacks that were brought for her.

She rolled her eyes and went back to doing her homework.

"Don't you have anything else to do? You do know it's your birthday tomorrow right?"

She sighed. Athanasia was well aware of the debutante party that had happened a few weeks ago, she doesn't mind that her debutante may or may not happen, but she's fine with it.

Even the maids are gossiping about how it was unfair that Princess Athanasia doesn't have a debutante party.

"Why are you not upset?"

"Upset about what?"

When she looked back at Lucas, he had a face that says 'are-you-serious?'

"What? Upset about what?"

"That tomorrow is your birthday, but you don't even have a debutante, either shared or only for you."

Lucas didn't understand why Athanasia wasn't upset nor disappointed. He was confused because Athanasia looked fine about it, that it's like 'no problem, I'm fine about it!'

"It's okay. Just a simple celebration with Daddy is already fine!"

Athanasia then fell into deep thought, not hearing Lucas' calls for her nor his hand that was constantly waving in front.

"Hey!"

When she finally heard, she flinched. "What?! Why are you shouting?!"

She glared at him, "I've been calling you for minutes now!"

"Sorry... I didn't hear it. I guess I was just deep in thought."

She says it's fine, but she doesn't know why she feels kind of... conflicted...?

Lucas reached out a hand to her after she stood up.

"Come."

Athanasia looked at his hand and back to his face. "What are doing?"

"I'm taking you somewhere."

She kept looking at his hand, before slowly lifting her own hand and placed it above his.

He gently tugged her to make her stand up and held her waist. He covered her eyes, before teleporting the two of them somewhere.

"Where are we? And can you remove your hand on my eyes?!"

"Stay put, just for a second."

She heard a few ruffling around her but she kept her eyes closed. Soon she felt his hand left her eyes and she slowly opened her eyes.

Athanasia let out a gasped because of what's in front of her.

"Do you like it?"

She slowly nodded. They're both standing near an edge of a cliff, while the luminous moon, shining brightly during the night and the stars that are surrounding it are twinkling brightly in the night sky.

"H-how did you know this place?"

"I accidentally found it, it looks ugly."

She flinched at his remark, "Hey! It's not ugly!"

But Lucas just had his tongue out and looked at her funny.

She rolled her eyes and continued staring at the view. "You know... It's really peaceful."

His brow shot up in confusion.

"It's calming to see this kind of view. A peaceful night... I like it."

'Well, at least the night before my birthday is quite... beautiful. I'd like to see this sight from time to time.'

"From time to time, bring me here, will you?"

He stared at her, his eyes held an unknown emotion, something he didn't know that he'll feel.

He stepped up to her slowly. The moment she looked back at him she had a smile on her face.

He felt weird. A good kind of weird.

They both stared at each other feeling an unusual pull between the two of them.

They were both unaware of their bodies slowly getting closer, feeling each other's breath that is hitting their face.

"W-what a-are we d-doing?" She mumbled to him.

"I don't know... And I don't care." He replied.

And did the unexpected thing that can slightly make changes between the two of them. But he doesn't regret doing it, and if given a chance, he'll do it again and again.
