Pansy and I sat at her vanity absentmindedly applying make-up.
"I look like shit." Pansy moaned rubbing her temple. She wore a strapless baby pink dress, with a large puffy skirt and flowers cascading down it. Which she studied with scrutinising eyes.
"The dress doesn't seem very... you." I mused smearing plum coloured lipstick across my lips.
"Fuck you." She said narrowing her eyes at me. We aren't friends. We both like to get pissed and suppress our emotions. That doesn't make us friends. She's still pug nose Parkinson.
"Someones extra snappy. You were much more fun on the train."I scoffed letting my head fall to the vanity. My brain felt as though it was going to break through my skull.
"I think we need some more firewhiskey." Pansy said sourly, getting up from her chair. Parkinson Manor was almost identical to any other pureblood country manor. Grand and cold. Somewhere you don't want to be. Tonight was one of the more grand balls and less a formal diner. I assume it's in preparation for the next debutante ball. It's years away that I'll have to be presented to society in such an old fashioned vomit worthy way. I looked down at my dress quite impressed with myself. The way mother would scowl when she saw me in it made it worth every penny at Madame Malkins. The bodice of the dress was a strapless corset top made of a shear material expect where my breasts were held in place. The skirt was a black sheer material layered many enough times so there was only a light silhouette of my legs. Pansy came back to sit next to me pulling the cork from the firewhiskey bottle with her teeth and spitting it onto the floor. I felt the jealousy radiate off of her. "What are you smirking at?" She demanded with a scowl, taking a hefty swing from the bottle.
"I know why you hate me." I said smirking and shaking my head as the realisation dawned on me.
"And ways that." Pansy snapped shoving the firewhiskey into my almost bare chest. I took it from her and brought the bottle to my lips. I let the burning liquid slide down my throat in what seemed like endless amounts. I must have been chugging for at least a minute when Pansy stopped me. "Merlin's left tit you have a death wish." I choked and gasped as the burning sensation became almost unbearable.
"You're jealous." I said with a wheeze, a smirk plastered on my slightly reddened face.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" The small, skinny girl growled as if she were preparing to attack.
"You're jealous that Draco loves me and not you. And you resent me for having that love but choosing someone else." I snickered cruelly, feeling the alcohol swim to my head so I could push all thoughts of Cedric back. Cedric who would have had that grin of his plastered on his face if he saw me in this dress. I felt that familiar stinging feeling in my eyes, making me take another swing of firewhiskey hoping for it to be the only liquid in my system. A silence swept over us but not a tense silence where you're scrambling for something to say. Jut silence. After a few minutes it was broken by Theo and Blaise bursting in, their ties loosened and a bottle of champagne between them. I stood shakily stumbling over to my brother. I threw my arms around him resting my head on his chest.
"Hey Mills, Mother's downstairs, she's very eager to see you." Blaise said gently.
"I'm too drunk Blaise to have a conversation with her about how I'm coping with the death of my boyfriend." I murmured into his chest.
"Come downstair Princess, lets dance." Theo grinned. I pulled my face out of Blaise's chest to look at him. His suit was dark green with a white shirt and no tie, just a few of his top buttons undone. As much as I hated to admit it he looked good. Every finger had a different ring and he had three chains decorating his neck and collar bones. He shook his head to move some black curls out of his emerald green eyes. Maybe there was another way to fill the whole inside me. A new way to numb the pain. I pulled away from Blaise and look Theo up and down weighing pros and cons in my head.
