The flowers of spring began to tentatively push through the snow, making the grounds a pre spring wonderland. I had been once again distant from Draco, I can only defend a person so much.Daphne and I sat in the library doing our History of Magic homework, well me doing it and Daphne copying me but just changing a few words.
"What happened between you and Draco?" She finally asked, seemed as though she was finding a way to word that for a while now.
"Nothing." I said calmly.
"Don't lie to me Millie, Draco's been moping about the dungeon for weeks now. Hasn't told Pansy how annoying she once, hasn't tripped up any first years, Blaise told me he skipped his last Quidditch practice!"
"I'm constantly standing up for him and he's constantly being a childish git." I stated simply.
"Is this about the muggle born know-it-all, what's her name... Granger."
"He picks on them for no good reason and uses words like mudblood, it's so uncalled for and you know what, I really don't need that in my life."
"You two have something special and trust me you don't want to lose it over some stupid Gryffindor's."
"Weasley asked me why I was with him and I used to always know what to say to that. But in that moment... I didn't" I said trying to suppress the urge to cry.
"Ugh, a Weasley, come on Mills."
"What! What if everyone was right about Draco he is a slimy git!" I instantly regretted the words as soon as they came out.
"I know you don't mean that Millie." Daphne began softly. "Ever since we were kids you two had had something... different. When he gave you his lollipop on the first day on the Hogwarts Express; when you cried to him about your father; and when he defended you from Cormac Mclaggen at the ball. He's always been there. Yes, he can be frustrating at times but when it comes to you... he means well." Why did Daphne always have to be right?
I couldn't stand another minute of Trewlany telling us to to bloody broaden our minds. I was falling asleep whilst Luna gazed wide eyed into the stupid crystal ball. I'm usually a pretty relaxed person but as some point I snap and I was not having any crap today. Same seemed to go for Hermione.
"May I have a go?" Hermione asked the mad women standing before her. "The grim, possibly...?"
"My dear from the first moment you stepped into my class, I sensed that you didn't posses the proper spirit for the noble art of divination." Trewlany said trancing her hand inside Hermione's palm. "No you see there..." She sighed, pointing to a line on her palm. "Ah... you may be young in years but the heart that beats beneath your bosom is as shrivelled as an old maids. Your soul as dry as the pages within the books you to which you so desperately cling." Trewlany said closing her palm and patting her hand. Hermione, now furious, pulled her hand away and pushed the crystal ball off the table storming out of the class.
"I think that'll be my cue to follow." I announced as I gathered my bag and strode out of the class behind Hermione. As I walked down the stairs I noticed Hermione had disappeared. I sighed and sat down on the steps. I noticed someone sit down next to me.
"That class is a load of rubbish." I looked to see Draco.
"Don't I know."
"Daphne told me about your erm... chat."
"Course she did."
"I would never hurt you. I hope you know that."
"I know Draco..." I sighed, resting my head on his shoulder. "I should go find Granger she looked distraught."
