the evening chats that at first seemed to be unending had already stopped. living room empty, corridors silent, your friends already venturing to new worlds in their dreams.

unlike them, sleep didn't come as easily to you. sitting on the wooden bench by the balcony, you mused at the night sky; watching the twinkling stars above—miles away yet still able to touch your soul. you had brought a small blanket with you since the evening breeze, regardless of how tranquil it could sound at night, could still be harsh and chilly.

with this quarter ending, your friends had decided to have a sleepover. an evening spent with each other before the long-awaited christmas break as some were to go out of town during the said break. the laughter and games earlier sure were memories you'd fondly come back to for the next years to come.

"you alright, y/n?" seongmin's voice enveloped your senses, drowsiness dripping on his tone as he stepped into the balcony. the soft breeze making him shiver.

you chuckled at your boyfriend before uttering a reply. "i am. i just can't sleep."

"oh?" a yawn managed to slip by his lips. small steps were done to settle beside you and you pulled the remaining side of the blanket to roll it out more, sparing him some of its warmth. "is something bothering you?"

"nothing really," you replied with a reassuring smile as he gazed at you with worried eyes.

"okay," seongmin said, probably still not buying it even though there was nothing he should be really worried about. his hand reached for the side of your head, slowly tilting it until your head met his shoulder. closing your eyes, his hand brushed upon your skin as he attempted to find your hands to interlace his fingers with yours. "you should still get some rest though."
