"ah, what a dumbass," allen muttered under his breath, gaze fixated to you as he watched another male leave. he was sitting by the bench in the lobby. the hallway was pretty much empty as most of the students were still inside their room. but a wave of students was to come out in a few minutes, marking the end of today's class schedules.

earlier this day, you asked allen to accompany you. it wouldn't help much in voicing out a confession, but knowing that he was just around was adequate to boost your confidence in doing so. however, confidence would never be enough to pull one's heart and make another person reciprocate affection.

heaving out a sigh, he sauntered towards you. it had been a solid minute since the other left, but you were still in the same location. your feet seemingly nailed on the ground. once he was already in front of you, he gave you a stern look. something that covered the concern he was reluctant to show. "so how did it go?"

stray tears came to answer his question, along with a sad pout.

another exhale. allen patted his shoulder, allowing you to lean there. you buried your face on his shoulder. no word was offered to you as he locked you to a gentle embrace. with that, you finally allowed your tears to flow, the frustration coming from a rejected confession slipping through the corner of your eyes.

silence surrounded both of you. he would stroke your back every now and then in an attempt to comfort you.

"i love your hugs," you said, voice muffled by the hug.

"silly." he snorted at your words. "my shirt's probably gonna be wet later," allen mumbled a complaint, though he didn't detach himself from you.

"well, at least you're only going home with a slightly soaked shirt and not a broken heart," you replied, burying your head deeper, trying to find more warmth from your best friend.

all allen did was chuckle.

he was sure it wouldn't only be a damp shirt he'd be dealing with later.
