Chapter 14

(Recap)

I'm about to close my eyes when the glass starts moving again, I can't help but watch. The glass shifts into position, all of their deadly sharp points turned in the direction of the Elexsiah. Ellen gives another warning-ish tone while talking with the Elesxiah, still in the other language. She doesn't respond to Ellen, instead, she grins.

Ellen's figure stiffens, "Then you leave me no choice," she whispers, this time in English. Her hands make a snapping sound, getting the attention on the glass pieces. Then, she points a finger at the Elexsiah.

(End Recap)

One bunch of floating shards throw themselves at her. The Elexsiah shrieks in pain and I scream along with her. Then another bunch is thrown at her, then another, and another. My eyes seem to be glued to the Elexsiah until all of the floating glass is wedged inside of the Elexsiah.

Elexsiah's screams, playing and re-playing in my head over and over and over again. Slowly I scrunch up into a ball resting my head on the deathly cold floor. A small, warm tear slides down the side of my cheek. One single droplet falls to the floor softly, comforting me.

Just thinking about the Elexsiahs dead body lying on the floor made me want to vomit my lunch out onto the floor. A sob makes its way out of my mouth and soon I'm weeping. I can't stop weeping, a small comforting hand rests on my back immediately slowing my cries. The hand rubs, and massages my tense muscles as I slowly start to calm down.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the Elexsiah, I know she tried to kill me but to kill her like, like that?!? If you're going to kill someone, at least make it quick right? Save them from the torturous pain they have to deal with right before their ending.

I was upset because of Ellen for putting someone through pain when she knew she could have stopped it. Plus, that was the first time I have ever seen anyone get killed. I haven't witnessed it on cartoons, live-action movies, on the news, haven't been to a funeral, and certainly have not seen it happen right before my eyes!

I turn around to face Ellen, my nose inches from hers, "Why did you kill her like that, why didn't you just finish it?". My eyes were still watery but I was able to make out her mouth opening to respond, "I-" "-you tortured her, I understand why you killed her but to torture her? With no reason?" I whisper.

Ellen looks hurt, her hands shrink back from her hold on me. "Look," she says softly, "I wouldn't do that to her without any reason". "Then what was your reason" I spit out. "I-you will find out when the time comes for me to tell you". I let out an exasperated sigh, throwing my hands in the air.

Something pricks at the back of my mind, turning my attention to my surroundings. It feels weird, a whiff of rotten stench hits my nose, that's when I realize that they're here. I spin back around to face Ellen, by the look on her face I could tell that she realized this as well. We stare into each other eyes then we both start sprinting in the direction of the others.

I skid to a stop, they all are still in the hiding spot that I left them in. "Guys we need to get going now, the others are here!" I yell. "What others are you talking about!" James yells back at me. "There's no time to explain just follow me." Ellen rushes.

We all start running, Ellen in the lead. We emerge from one of the halls into a large room, three other halls besides our own that connect to this room.

"Come on we don't have much time," Ellen says, snapping me out of my trance. We rush over to the other side to go down the other hallway in front of us. Suddenly another creature appears at the other end of the hallway. It doesn't look like the Elexsiah but I don't have time to examine it any further, I know that it isn't here to help us.

The others and I stumble backward and sprint to the next nearest hallway. A monster that resembles the other one stands in the way and that's when I realize, we're cornered and there's nothing I can do about it. Everyone else seemed to have come up with the same conclusion. Slowly I back away from the hallway, suddenly something hits the back part of my thigh. I spin around to realize that it was the edge of the fountain.

It seems like the monsters pouring into the room had doubled in size. The stench of manure overflowing my senses, nearly making me choke on my spit. After the moving of the creatures had stilled I did a full turn around the room. I estimated about twenty creatures were in this room. I dreaded how this fight was going to go down. We could barely take care of one so how the heck are we going to be able to take care of twenty? Easy answer, we cant.

Suddenly one of the creatures standing in front of us steps forward. By the looks of it, he was the one in charge. Then he or she, I don't really know, starts speaking. It wasn't the same language that the Elexsiah spoke but it sounded similar to it.

Ellen snarls something back in the same language, as she does she steps in front of James, Bianca, Annie, Jullie, and me almost in a protective manner. As her body steps in front of me, I am no longer able to see the creature. I peek around her shoulder to get a better view, the creature looked more human than the Elexsiah but there were still obvious features that showed it was not human.

As if sensing my gaze the creature turned its head towards me, large yellow eyes lock with mine. An evil smirk appears on its face, something about it made me uneasy. Well, they all made me uneasy knowing that they are here to kill me and my friends but this one was really disturbing for some reason. I just couldn't put my finger on why.

Shifting its gaze back to Ellen it talks again almost in a gloating manner. After it finishes talking its eyes flicker over to me. Seeing where the creature's gaze had gone, Ellen looks over to me. She grabs my hand before responding to the creature. Its smile vanishes after hearing whatever Ellen had to say. It talks again in a warning ish tone just like the one that Ellen gave the Elexsiah right before she died.

By the way they were talking to each other it was like the creature was trying to make a deal with Ellen about something. And by the way they kept on glancing over to me every few seconds I would think they are talking about me.
But why would they talk about you? The other part of my brain asked myself. I couldn't think of any reason but then, what if that creature is trying to take me with them? Just like the Elexsiah did? I mean, that makes sense, doesn't it? They both are on the same side.

Realizing this I hide behind Ellen again. I don't want to go with them Ellen will protect me, right? She won't let them take me. As if answering my questions Ellen pulls me closer to her back. After I am fully hidden from view from the creature Ellen shakes her head, turning down whatever offer the creator proposed in exchange for me.

The creature lets out an angry roar then one of the other creatures that were to my left suddenly thrust his arms out in front of himself, his hands pointed towards me. A blast of air hits me, my head snaps back and my feet leave the ground. I soar through the air and seem to only go higher and higher. Suddenly my back hits the concrete fountain a sickening crack fills my ear. Someone screams, I can't tell if it was me or one of my friends or both.

My body plummets to the ground, I was about fifteen feet in the air, the edges of my vision started getting blurry, a soft wind gently carries me the rest of the way to the ground. A face leans over me I can just make out the long brown hair. It's Ellen, she's trying to talk to me but all I can hear is the loud ringing.

I groan, placing a hand on my head. A large pounding thumps in my head, like a punch to my head every two seconds. Clumpy black stuff covers the edges of my vision. Ellen shouts something to the others around me, she then swings her arms around in a circular motion and a white light starts growing in size hovering just above the ground, once it's large enough for a grown man to jump through Ellen stops. It reminds me of Dr. Strange and the portals he makes.

One by one they jump through the portal, as I watch them they all blend together and the darkness creeps closer to the center of my vision. I'm lifted off of the ground into someone's arms. Their hands rub my back soothingly and the last I see is the bright white light of the portal before I am consumed by the blackness.
