JUST A LITTLE RANT

Hello, the rant isn't associated with the story but please read it because I'm tackling something I see in every single fanfiction I read. Before I dive in head first into my rant, thank you for the 600+ followers and the 1,99k on this story.

When I first began reading the Harry Potter franchise way back then, two characters stood out the most to me, two I extremely loved. Severus Snape and Percy Weasley. Then when I first read Prisoner Of Azkaban I fell in love with Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. (Yes, I like him.)

Now, in all (and I bloody mean it when I say all) the fanfictions I read, all the characters hate Peter even the one year old who doesn't know squat about him. I mean, we obviously have our own different views on these characters we grew to love, but please remember a few things about Peter.

He was a loyal friend up until he felt like everyone was moving forward with their lives and forgetting about him. I might be wrong on this one, but hear me out. Peter idolized James and Sirius and James got married and he felt like James was throwing him to the sidelines.

He cut off his own hand to save Harry and it's not even the one with the missing finger.

But most importantly, HE WAS A MAURADER AND HE WAS THEIR FRIEND, no matter how many times you wish you can just replace your OC with Peter on the map and not include him at all, it won't happen. Peter played a vital role in the war as well, he was at war with himself.

I'm not saying you're wrong for hating him, he's done bad stuff but please don't make him a flat character in your story when he plays such a vital role in almost everything.

One last thing, as Scabbers he bit Goyle who was busy bullying HARRY and RON.

And now Percy. Where do I even begin with him?

When I started watching the movies and I saw Percy, I had the hugest crush (still do actually) on him. He was my second HP crush, first being Oliver Wood cause come on, he's Scottish, he's got an accent to die for and he's so bloody adorable.

But everyone hates Percy just cause he strayed from his family. Need I remind you that Molly told her children that they needed to get a job at the Ministry? Need I remind you that Molly told her children she wants them to have good grades?

Percy was just fulfilling his mother's wishes AND EVERYONE HATED HIM FOR IT. All his brothers, even Ginny. I know siblings tease each other and stuff and that none of these people really existed but I feel Percy's pain. Do you just sometimes just fall into bed, cry your lungs out, asking yourself where you went wrong? Yes? Maybe that's how Percy felt after every single time ALL his siblings and friends teased him. Maybe he felt like killing himself, maybe he was depressed, we won't know.

The last character I see everyone hates is Lucius Malfoy. W H Y?

HE'S A FATHER PROTECTING HIS FAMILY. Sure he's a coward, an extremely good looking one, dzaam, but he was doing everything in his power to protect his family.

Just imagine this quickly, Lucius manages to kill Harry in Chamber of Secrets, Voldemort wins, only purebloods attend Hogwarts, halfbloods and muggle borns are slain, I know it seems bad because it is bad but like then Lucius can take his family and they can live elsewhere, where war hasn't affected that country. Dumbledore will stop Voldemort, he was raising Harry to be slain like a pig anyway and he had no remorse whatsoever when Sevvy confronted him about it.

You don't get to hate ANY of the characters mentioned above if you hadn't walked in their shoes before. Or you can hate them in silence, or you can just one character hate Peter or Lucy or Percy. I dunno, I can't tell you what to do, it's your story.

Before I leave, I'd like to remind you that even though Lucius Malfoy tormented Viola when she was younger, it doesn't necessarily mean that she hates him, she forgave him, she's just being her dramatic self. And that Peter was going to play a huge role in her life but I made this only two acts.
