*Tug*tug*tug*tug*

A burst of 35mm high explosive rounds filled the outskirts of a major airbase just outside the Capital of Cardonia.

The airspace were immediately filled with tungsten sub projectiles, every single flying object were hit by these fast kinetic weapons. These sub projectiles doesn't have the pure power needed to kill a wyvern through a burst of fire, however the amount of volune the guns could deliver means every wyvern is peppered enough that they succumb to their injuries, knocking them out in the air.

Accompanying the concert of 35mm cannon fire were various 50 caliber machine guns mostly from Humvees and technicals. It was a full blown war.

Wyverns are making a sudden reappearance, this time they are coming from the mountains. The Air Base defenses are currently on the highest limit as beasts are also harassing this facility located at the countryside.

Housing the bulk of Cardonia's Air Force and Royal Institute of Aeronautics Trainer aircrafts. They are high valued assets that ensures the Royal Air Force has well trained pilots flying, the pressure is really high for the limited base defenders. As such one of the few Rheinmetall Oerlikon Skyshield system were placed here. None could now really leave the air base thanks to the wyverns and the amount of lead and tungsten being pumped out in the sunny skies.

And the combined efforts of everyone at the air base were admirable, not a single invader has even entered the perimeter of the main air base.

The Pilots watching helplessly on their barracks began to request to arm their trainer aircrafts with any available gun pods, they aren't getting their asses handed over to the land lubbers.

A few old PC-7s armed with a rudimentary 20mm or 50 cal gun pods managed to take off amidst the hail of gunfire and beasts.

With instructor pilots at the back seats, they could make fun of the situation as a gunner proficiency test for junior trainee pilots.

Challenged by their teachers, they gave their best.

The turboprop trainers have the ability to fly slow but at the same time agile enough to chase and cut down the mostly lumbering wyverns. It could be sheer luck, but thankfully the brave pilots today were facing somewhat weaker versions of the dreaded wyverns that have limited the amount of scouting flights above the then Scolusian Capital.

The siege ended at nightfall in favor of the defenders. Searchlights filled the night sky, but there were no signs of the wyverns, giving the defenders ample time to rest and resupply. Mechanics quickly rushed towards the aircrafts involved in the air battle and miraculously, the only damage they could see are from friendly fire. The Oerlikons were really that potent, some of the trainer aircrafts were scrapped afterwards due to the intensity of the damages.

Scenarios like this occurred all over the country. Hundreds of stories of people going above and beyond the call of duty, it could be only the sense of danger that is pushing the people this far. Add to that, the mere fact that people have set aside their differences in fighting off a common enemy.

As soon as the armed forces were able to mobilize properly, regroup and reorganize properly. A uniformed counter offensive immediately launched into action. Empowered by what they are seeing, volunteers began to rise up in the thousands. A massive clearing and cleaning operation are therefore deemed, possible.

After a few days of unrelenting military offensives and a good portion of the country's reserve resources spent, Cardonia is nearing their declaration of freedom. Ironically their first ever and it was against beasts.

The northern areas are already secured with only the inner parts of the Cities and some outlying provinces left to be totally cleared from any stragglers.
