Chapter 14 - Cardonian Army

The quiet open fields beyond the border of the Cardonia was rattled by the sound of diesel and gas engines. A massive convoy of military vehicles are rushing in towards the towm where the Crown Prince is held hostage.

A whole company sized are tasked to supplement the troops that the Prince bring with him. These are the from Prince's Battalion, the stationed troops from the town of Celeb were quickly assembled. The whole company consist of two platoons of mechanized infantry along with a tank and artillery platoon.

The APC's lead the way followed by tank platoon and further back are the artillery battery and the command section, in command is Lt. Col. Jhames Choro. He personally asked to make him the Command Officer for the reinforcments.

They made their way om the grassy plains and overcome hills. It was as easy task for their vehicles, even with the absence of roads the vehicles made it through.

It was past midnight when they've arrived on the outskirts of the town. After a few observations they set up a forward base along with the artillery platoon. The troops then was spread out to supplement the ongoing the blockade. They now have more than enough firepower to set this town alight.

Hearing and seeing the movements of the vehicles, the whole town was alerted.

That time the Prince was already resting in small room the Princess provided. He is not exactly free, after the tea party he was taken here and his dinner was brought to him. His room does not provide much view from the outside. He was awakened when commotion broke inside the castle, he can hear the soldiers are in a disarray.

Soldiers stand guard atop of the town's wall, archer and lancers are readied, swordsmen began to set up barricade after the gates and defensive positions within the wall. They are getting ready to withstand a siege.

The 120mm cannons of the four Leopard 2-A6's is more than enough to punish the stone walls of the town. The three 155mm self propelled M-109 howitzers could lay siege on the troops atop the wall, same at the mortars both mobilized and not. They could basically flatten the whole town with the firepower they brought, it is basically overkill.

But the Commander, knew that they cannot easily do that. First off is that the Prince is held hostage, he might be beheaded before even the rescue party could reach the castle where he was supposedly held, finding him is also one thing.

Thus they decided to dig in and wait. They are there to fly the flag and be an intimidating force.

The night then passed by, the townsfolk are tired as they are on station the whole night, meanwhile the Cardonian troops rest easy outside.

And as the sun rises from the horizon. The Prince was rattled as some violently knocks on the door and as soon he opened it he was dragged outside and onto the throne room.

Waiting for him is the Princess, still at her night dress indicating that she might not have taken a sleep or was also awakened not long ago. Along with her knights and government officials, remarkably the Sage seems to be missing.

"Prince, it seems that your troops have completely encircled and blocked all our towns gates. You have my complement at the speed of your army.", the Princess the said, she seems irritated.

The Prince then took a peek outside, he can see in the distance that the flag of his country flutters in the air and in what seems a forward base, with a Blackhawk coming in to land.

"It seems this is the response of my country, Princess, what are you going to do now? My soldiers are clueless on what is going on, including our countries history they knew one thing though, I am held hostage.", the Prince replied in a confident way.
