Artillery, rockets, bombs and even missiles were relentlessly raining down upon the long stretch of Dylaslan fortifications along the border of Scharen. For the last hours, dozens of bunkers, pillboxes and hundred meters of massive maze of trenches were obliterated by the immensive Cardonian firepower.
The sounds of exploding shells could be heard dozens of kilometers away. Tremors were reportedly felt by outlying villages and towns.
Thousands of defending Dylaslans and Scharen conscripts have perished throughout the night. The complex fortifications wete described later as being enveloped in 'hellfire'. The whole section of the border were left undefended as either the defenders were killed by the barrage or they've retreated.
As the sun rises, the once heavily fortified border are now reduced to rubble and ash, the whole fields were left blackened.
A large line of Cardonian armoured vehicles then began to pour towards the border, any Dylaslan who are brave enough to face off the Cardonians were immediately dealt with either the 125mm cannon of the T-72's or the 30mm autocannon of the APC's. The infantry didn't need to disembarked from their vehicles as the large armoured column were met with little to no resistance. By afternoon, the Cardonian Army successfully crossed the border are now marching towards the nearest town and villages.

A large fleet of NH-90's and Blackhawks escorted by the Apache's and MD-530's make their way deep inside Scharen territory. The whole 20th Infantry Company of the Cardonian Army are to be deployed forward to capture a key mine, albeit small, it is believed to be containing vast amount of untouched rare earth materials.

The ominous whirring sounds of the helicopters have alerted everyone near the vicinity of their flight path, they've basically gave their position and heading, but with overwhelming air superiority and a large Cardonian force marching their way dozens of kilometers away, the Dylaslans would not surely deploy a large force to retake a somewhat non important mine.
"1 minute before the designated target! Prep your weapons!" a Platoon leader shouted in which the troops with him aboard the NH-90 promptly followed. They've cocked their rifles, checked their kits and prayed to God almighty to save them against any lucky bullets.
The mine were poorly defended with only a couple dozen Dylaslan soldier and a number of Scharen conscripts.

Both the attack helicopters and the transports immediately opened fire at anyone taking aim or are positioning to oppose them. Cardonian Generals have reminded them countless of times to take the Dylaslan with much more caution compared to the Imperials, as this country employ lever action rifles and hand cranked gatling guns. A very serious threat compared to Imperial muskets.
