Chapter fifty nine

Lucius

'Narcissa. Katie got arrested.' i said

'What? Why?' she asked

'For murdering her father.' i said

'No. She wouldn't do that. You know that right? Are you trying to figure out who actually did it?' she asked

'I- I don't know.' i said

'What do you mean? She didn't do it. There has to be something you can do about it.' she said

'There are many things i can do about it. Why do you think she didn't do it?' i asked

'Because i know her. Her father was an asshole. But she wouldn't kill him. I don't think she would ever kill anyone.' she said

'What about you?' i asked

'What??' she asked

'Where did you go on the morning of 6th January? You said you were meeting an old friend. But you didn't say who.' i said

'You think i had something to do with the death of Jake Snow?' she asked

'I truly hope not. But if you did, then i have to know. I have to know who to protect.' i said

'And let her take the blame for me?'
'Bloody hell Lucius! No! I had nothing to do with his death! But i think Bellatrix might have. I met with Katie. She was with me that morning. I was telling her about Bellatrix planning something on her. Now go back to the Ministry and do your job. Prove she's not guilty.' she yelled

'Cornelius said i should wait till tomorrow morning.' i said

'I don't care what he said. Go back in there and find some evidence or whatever. Help her. Go wake him up to whatever and don't let Katie go to Azkaban.'
'Now Lucius.' she yelled

'Alright. Alright.' i said

I took my work bag and went back to the Ministry.

'Leslie. Go find Cornelius and bring him here. He'll kill me. But it's important.' i said

'Yes Mr. Malfoy' Leslie said

'Really Lucius? It's the middle of the night.' Cornelius said

'I know. But i made my decision. We're gonna go after Bellatrix. If we let her go now. She'll kill even more people. And i don't want that on my hands. Do you?' i asked

'I guess not. But she's your wife's sister. Is she okay with this?' Cornelius asked

'She sent me here actually. So... Let's do this.' i said

Katie

Malfoy brought me back in the integrations room.

'Drink this.' Fudge said

'What is it?' i asked

'Veritaserum.' Malfoy said

I drank the glass of veritaserum.

'Where were you on 6th January between 1am and 3am?' Malfoy asked

'I was in my bed. And then i went to meet Narcissa. She sent me a letter. She said it was important and that i shouldn't tell anyone. So i went to meet with her at a lake. She told me that Bellatrix was planning something against me. She didn't know what. Only that she's planning something. She told me Bellatrix was meeting with Peter Pettigrew. They both hated me and i think they both killed my dad.' i said

'Is that the truth?' Fudge asked

'You gave me veritaserum. So yesss. It is.' i said

'What do you think?' Fudge asked Malfoy
