Kuroo gazed at the house that belonged to his dear childhood friend, puzzled on why he isn't inside when he went in.

Is he really going through these lengths to skip school? Doesn't sound like Kenma..

It was only a matter of time before school starts so Kuroo decided to leave it be and walk to school without the faux blonde. A strange change to his daily routine.

Meanwhile, Kenma was infront of [Name]'s house, waiting for her to walk to school with her. He cradled back and forth on his heels whilst also on his phone, waiting for the girl as the front door to their home finally opened.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting, Kenma" the girl uttered shyly. [Name]'s sister had informed her that Kenma was outside when she answered the door for the boy.

"It's fine" the boy spoke, taking notice of how her hair was brushed neatly into place and her uniform properly worn. Kenma couldn't help but think how pretty she looked. "Honestly, when my sister said you were outside my house it was shocking atleast." The girl told the boy who only shrugged the statement off.

"Why not?"

"Hey, where's Kuroo?" The question made the boy subconsciously grip his fists. He couldn't help but feel so envious that you notice the absence of his friend. Did you also notice his absence when you were hanging out with Kuroo yesterday? Kenma sighed, releasing his fists from the tension and composed himself.

"I decided to head out early and not bother him, he's not a morning person" he lied. In honesty the whole morning he only thought of being able to walk to school with [name]. The ravenette had never crossed his mind that morning until the girl mentioned him.

"Oh.. Alright" the girl questioned the boy no more and continued their journey to school.

The walk to school was filled with silence. It was neither awkward or comfortable to Kenma, but it definitely is awkward to [Name]. She fidgeted with her fingers, looking around for any sort of topic that could be discussed when one came to mind.

"Kenma?" The girl spoke, startling the boy because of the sudden sound in their silence. The boy looked over at the girl and replied to her calling.

"Do you remember the first day I came here? And I thought you were someone else?" The girl asked, looking up at the boy with a small smile. The boy tensed up at the topic, seemingly because he had lied to her about not being the boy in question.

Seconds passed before Kenma answered. "Yeah, Why?" The girl answered immediately. "The person looked so much like you, blond hair and everything. I met him at a gaming shop and gave him this game my cousin said he wanted for free". When saying it out loud, [Name] realized how strange the action really was. "It was supposed to be a gift but the guy looked so depressed about it" the girl said laughing at her distant memory of the boy's face.

Kenma mentally cringed at this, considering she was talking about him to his face. Did I really looked that stupid? "You don't say.." he replied followed with an awkward forced laugh.

A minute of silence passed before he spoke again. "You were stupid for doing that though.. doing something nice for someone you don't even know" a small, barely a smile made its way to his lips, reminiscing in the memory. It was a day he truly cherished but he meant the words he told the girl. The game was expensive since it was in high demand.

"Its fine, my mom said something along the lines of 'start this new life with a generous start' and corny stuff like that" the girl laughed at her mother's words in an attempt to encourage the girl since she was affected by the sudden move.

The move was sudden for her, and it did took a big toll on her, but she knew her family needed this better start. Considering her family only consisted of her, her sister and her mother. Her father long passed due to brain cancer which made them even more desperate for a higher income to support them after spending so much money on his surgery.

The boy noticed the sorrow in her eyes, not knowing how to comfort her but thought against not trying, he patted her head, then retreating his hand as if nothing happened. The girl was taken aback by the sudden touch, the boy looked unbothered. She smiled at his subtle kindness and continued their walk to school, letting the comfortable silence engulf them

They have long finished their first five periods and was now heading for lunch. Whilst packing her stuff, she saw Kuroo in the corner of her eye, with a rather unpleasant look. He marched towards Kenma with a frown. The girl watched from the side as Kenma watched as his friend continue to stride his way over to him until he was right in front of him.

"Bro! You ditched me! I thought you were skipping school." He exclaimed, mad that his best friend let him walk to school all alone. He looked like a loner.

"Sorry.. I walked with [Name]" Kenma muttered enough for [Name] and Kuroo to hear. As the words land in Kuroo's ear, he exclaimed "AND YOU DIDN'T CARE TO INVITE ME?!?!" he looked at his friend ready to pounce on him any moment. [Name], who was observing on the sidelines, laughed at their ridiculous antics, mostly Kuroo's as Kenma was just standing there dumbfounded.

"I went there early, and you take too long to get ready. Like a girl" he muttered walking to the classroom door to not miss anymore time of break, dragging [Name] along knowing Kuroo would just follow. Throughout all of this happening, [Name] stayed quiet, the contact between her wrist and Kenma's hand made the girl slightly flustered. She had a dumb look on her face with the most subtle blush not noticeable enough to the naked eye.

While walking to the canteen, Kuroo rambled on and on, following the two closely, nonstop complaining with his exaggerated whiny voice.

If he doesn't shut up I'm gonna puck his fac-

His thoughts stopped as the hand he was holding was shook off of him. Confused he look towards [Name].

"Kenma, you go ahead, I wanna buy something from the vending machine." She said with a smile. Just as she was about to go in a different direction, Kenma stopped her. "Wait! I'll come with. I wanna buy something from there too." He said following her.

She looked taken aback but soon return to his side with a smile and an okay. All the while Kuroo watched this, a sly smirk on his face. A devious, sly, mischievous smirk. As he stopped his grinning, he followed the two to the snack machine.

"What do you want?" Kenma asked the girl, in which she replied with "The spicy crinkle cut chips" whilst reaching into her wallet to give him the money only to be beaten to it when Kenma paid for both his and her snack. He handed the girl the desired bag of chips. "O-oh! Thank you, Kenma" she said trying to give him the money for it only to be refused. "Kenma don't pay for my food" she laughed, insisting on giving him the money accustomed to the price of the snack. He shook his head, no. "Its fine, just take it" as he opened the soda he bought.

"Eh? Kenma pay for my snack too~" Kuroo cooed, wiggling his eyebrows. Kenma gave him a look, before sighing, buying him what he would usually get from the vending machine.

When he was not the center of attention anymore, he cracked a small smirk, eyes traveling between the girl and his best friend. He can't help but feel happy to see them interact like they've known each for a long time. It was refreshing to see Kenma like this, and not with his nose deep in his phone. [Name] was some girl.
