So finally no miracle happened and I had to leave my precious home and come all the way to Korea. Thanks to Misha, her parents rented me their small house in a locality in Seoul. Originally we both were going to live here if she had cleared her exam but now it's only me.

Misha's parents are Riche Rich and like to own properties in different parts of the world. They are the owners of the famous chain of hotels- The Prestige Palace. But being so rich didn't make them arrogant. They are one of the humble people I know and their daughter is the sweetest girl I know. I met Misha because of the scholarship I got for studying in one of the best colleges in Delhi. No wonder the college was expensive and students like me who belong to middle-class families can only dream of such colleges.

But by the grace of God, I was able to pursue my master's in psychology at this university. I remember how my parents were elated when they got to know about my scholarship and how my father distributed sweets in his office while my mother immediately dialed all of my relative's numbers to brag about her daughter's success. My father is a government employee and my mother is a homemaker. Being the only bread earner in the family, my father struggled a lot but never did he let his burden drop on us. My mother too worked hard weaving our happy moments with love and care.

They were so happy when I told them that I am going to Korea for a year in a student exchange program. I am the first member of my family to go out of India. I remember how for the whole month before my departure my mother kept telling me that I have to take care of my health and not talk to strangers and all those things were reminded to me that are taught to a five-year-old toddler.

Talking of my dad, well he was busy reading about woman safety in Korea. He read about the food habits of Korea, where can I find Indian Restaurants in Seoul, he even remembered all the emergency numbers of Korea. Thanks to him that I got acquainted with Seoul before even landing here. Whereas Misha was busy taking me shopping and buying some interesting clothes for me. She wanted to make a butterfly out of a moth. But who could win her, so on her insistence I bought three dresses which I am pretty sure I am never going to wear.

So this long excitement period of my family and friends ended with farewell tears in the airport of India as my people bid me goodbye for a year.

Well, now it's been a week since I am here in Seoul. The locality is beautiful and most of the residences in this area are of Indians so I don't feel much out of place. Sudha aunty, my neighbor, made me acquainted with the atmosphere here and all the important things I need to know about the place. She told me where can I buy vegetarian food, there are very few places in Seoul with vegetarian food.

Till now I am interacting with Korean people with the help of a translator app on my phone. Not many people know English here but people seem to be friendly and helpful.I haven't made any friends till now but hope to make at least one by the end of the year. My peaceful abode here is just my small house, gifted by Misha's parents. Though I insisted on paying rent and the amount got settled to 5000 Rs per month.

The house is a small two-room set- a living room and a bedroom but it is beautiful. The grapevine-colored walls give it a soothing effect to the viewer's eyes. The house is well ventilated and is enclosed by a kitchen garden which has small vegetables that the caretaker had grown and now I take care of them. The entrance to the kitchen garden is from the kitchen glass door and this glass door is protected by a wooden door at its front which I close when I am not in the house and at night.I was afraid of how would I adjust in this stranger land but once you are set on the path, I guess everything becomes clear and new doors open for us.

So till now, life is going pretty smoothly let's hope everything remains the same until the year ends.
