PAGLABAS ko pa lamang ng pintuan ng bahay namin ay natanaw ko na agad si Arsen sa harap ng bahay nila. Nakikipaglaro siya sa aso niyang si Cade. I bit my lower lip and hesitated a little if I should approach him. It's been three days already since "that kiss" happened.

We both fell silent after I kissed him. No one dared to talk. Umalis din kami ng La Contejo Resort noon at agad na umuwi. Pagkatapos no'n, hindi na ulit ako lumabas ng bahay. Tatlong araw akong hindi lumabas at nagpakita sa kaniya. Ewan ko. I felt embarrassed and I felt like I crossed a line that shouldn't be crossed.

We were friends, alright. I was starting to like him more than just a friend and I didn't know if he was feeling the same way. Kissing him felt like I just took advantage of our closeness. Ah, basta! Nakakahiya talaga! I didn't even know kung bakit ko ginawa 'yon. I just... felt like kissing him that exact moment.

My heart skipped a beat when he turned to look at our house and immediately found my eyes. Napahinga ako nang malalim at hindi malaman kung babatiin ba siya o magkukunwari na lang na hindi ko siya nakita. But then...

"Hi!" he greeted cheerfully.

Wala akong nagawa kundi bumati pabalik. Of course, it be so mean of me if I would just ignore him after he greeted.

I smiled and waved. "Hey."

I saw him walking towards the fence. Para akong bahagyang nataranta at wala na talagang choice kundi harapin siya at kausapin. I walked towards the gate and went out of the house. Sinalubong ko siya sa kaniyang paglalakad patungo sa akin.

I stopped on my tracks when there was already enough distance between us. He was eyeing me seriously yet gently at the same time. I smiled and awkwardly avoided his gaze.

"Uh... you didn't go out these past few days?" he asked.

Awkward din akong natawa kaya mas lalo akong nag-iwas ng tingin.

"I was b-busy with something," I replied. "I, uh... I-I help Manang Lou with some house chores."

Mabagal naman siyang napatango at mas lalo pa akong pinagmasdan.

"Are you going out?"

I shook my head. "Nah. N-Nagpapahangin lang."

Tumakbo si Cade papunta sa kaniya. Agad naman siyang yumuko at hinimas ito sa ulo sabay kuha sa maliit na bola na kagat nito.

"Good boy."

Napangiti ako habang pinagmamasdan silang pareho. I could see how Arsen loves his dog so much. They were even close enough to be called as best friends.

Muling nag-angat ng tingin sa akin sa Arsen kaya naging hilaw na naman tuloy ang ngiti ko.

"I'm baking cookies inside. Kung wala ka namang gagawin o pupuntahan... w-we can hangout inside our house," I could hear a bit of nervousness in his voice.

Umawang naman ang bibig ko at muli na namang naalala ang paghalik ko sa kaniya. He didn't look mad or irritated with it naman. I was also thinking din kasi na baka he got offended about it that's why I didn't show up for the past few days. Bukod sa nahihiya talaga ako, naiisip ko na baka ayaw niya rin naman akong makita.

But looking at him right now, it seemed like it wasn't a bid deal for him. I didn't know if I should feel thankful for that or be sad about it. Well, anyway, at least I could see that he wasn't mad at me. Akala ko talaga iiwasan niya na ako dahil doon.

Hearing him inviting me over to hangout with him was such a relief.

I cleared my throat before I got to respond.
