NAGTAGAL pa ng ilang minuto si Arsen sa bahay ng gabing iyon bago siya nagpaalam. Tandang-tanda ko pa na hindi na ulit bumalik ang masaya niyang ekspresyon matapos kong makatanggap ng tawag mula kay Aquilus.

Sa sumunod na araw, hindi ko siya nakita sa resort ng umaga hanggang sa mag-lunch. Maybe he was busy with something related to work. Why was I even looking for him, though? Bakit parang inaabangan ko pa? Ano namang mangyayari kung pupunta siya ulit dito sa hardin? Kakausapin ko ba?

Napailing-iling na lamang ako sa aking sarili at nagpatuloy na sa trabaho. Afternoon came and the meryenda served by the resort also delivered to us. Sumisimsim ako sa aking juice nang magdalawang tingin ako sa entrance ng garden nang makita ko ang pagpasok ni Arsen.

Agad siyang binati ni Engineer Gonzaga at nag-usap sila saglit. Mayâ-mayâ ay gumala na ang mga mata niya hanggang sa huminto nang matapat sa akin. I gave him a smile and he smiled back a little. I hid my pout by biting my lower lip. No wave?

Paubos ko na ang juice ko nang mahagip ko ng tingin si Daniel na may inaanyayahang tao papasok sa hardin.

"Architect Mortel, may naghahanap po sa inyo!" tawag ni Daniel.

My eyes widen when I saw Aquilus trailing behind him. I even blinked repeatedly just to make sure that I was not hallucinating or something. He immediately walked towards me and I had no choice but walk to him, too.

"Hi, babe!" masayang aniya na naka-open na ang arms to welcome me with a hug.

I smiled nervously and unconsciously glanced at Arsen's direction. He was watching us. Napakurap-kurap aki at muling ibinalik ang tingin kay Aquilus.

"A-Aqui! You surprised me!" I even stuttered because I didn't really expect to see him today!

He didn't tell me that he would visit! We just talked on the phone last night, so why didn't he tell me?

"It's my plan! I wanna surprise you."

Agad niya akong ikinulong sa isang mahigpit na yakap. Wala akong nagawa kundi yakapin siya pabalik. Nang bumitiw kami sa yakap ay mabilis niya akong pinatakan ng halik sa labi.

My throat ran dry. My heart was pounding and I didn't even know why! I kinda felt conscious, embarrassed, and scared for some reason.

I slowly moved my gaze towards Arsen. He wasn't looking at our direction anymore, but I could clearly see his clenched jaw and blank expression. Engineer Gonzaga was talking to him, but it seemed like he wasn't listening anymore.

Nang muli kong ibalik ang tingin ko kay Aqui ay pilit akong ngumiti. "Nagulat ako. When did you arrive?"

Pumulupot ang braso niya sa baywang ko. "Kanina lang. I travelled by land kaya umaga pa lang ay umalis na ako ng Maynila."

Napatango-tango ako at pinagmasdan siya. Aquilus was a good looking man. His hair was brush-up and he really had a very manly and rugged features. Pitch-black eyes, pointed nose, and some stubbles around his jaw. One look at him and you'd immediately think that he was uptight, but that was just usually the first impression of most people of him.

He was actually very kind. He was sweet, gentle, and very thoughtful. He cared about my feelings and I really felt that he loves me.

"Don't you have a lot of work to do, babe? Baka busy ka 'tapos nagpunta ka pa rito?" nag-aalalang tanong ko.

He chuckled a bit and kissed me on my forehead. "For this day, I decided to ditch my work. I wanna be with you."

Napabuntonghininga ako. "Aqui, you can't just ditch work anytime you want! Ikaw, ha!"
