Chapter 16

It's nearly midnight and I was sitting in my room waiting but still no sign of JJ, no text, no nothing.

He probably just fell asleep.

I was kind of tired because we were on the marsh for majority of the day and being in the sun makes me exhausted.

I take a quick shower and change into a hoodie and shorts.

I turn on a movie and fall asleep.

3am

I wake up to light knocking on my window. I already knew it was JJ so I roll out of bed and push the curtains apart.

"Romeo we've got to stop meeting like this" I whisper in a British accent placing my hand over my heart. "I'm sorry my dearest Juliet but I just couldn't wait to see you" he says in a British accent that's way better then mine and pressing his hand against the window.

"Shit you're good at that" I say laughing "I know" he dramatically flips his hair. "Could you um," he taps on the window.

"What's the magic word?" I raise my eyebrows "Please" he tilts his head giving me puppy dog eyes "It was actually lotion, but I'll take the please because you have a boo boo eye"

I open the window and JJ comes in closing and locking it. He then hops onto my bed.

"What are we watching?" He asks grabbing my tv remote. "I don't know what do you wanna watch?" I ask sitting on the edge of the bed looking at the tv.

"Come here" he pats the spot next to him. I sit next to him and he puts his arm around me.

He starts flipping through channels and I cuddle into his side.

"I thought you were coming earlier" he rubs my arm "I just got caught up with John b and Pope" he responds still flipping through channels.

"Did Kie end up coming back after work?" "Nah she had to work till closing so she wanted to go home" I nod.

"I didn't appreciate you pushing me into the water earlier" JJ remarks "I didn't appreciate you're teammate using me and an anchor earlier" I reply "Yeah I didn't appreciate that either" he agrees.

I furrow my brows "What?" I ask confused "I don't know the way he was holding you makes me- never mind"

"Makes you what JJ?" I ask scooting back so I can look right at him "I said never mind" he mutters "Makes you jealous?" I ask "Is the great JJ Maybank jealous?" I joke with a slight smile.

"No I'm not jealous, I just didn't like the way he was touching you" he shrugs it off "He was just touching my waist, it's not that big a deal plus he has a thing for Kiara anyways" "Are you sure he has a thing for Kiara though?"

What the fuck is he talking about?

"What do you mean?" " I don't know Hav, Pope and John b have been checking you out a lot lately" I roll my eyes "Oh my god JJ you're being ridiculous, they don't look at me like that" I defend now sitting a little farther away from him.

"Yes they do, hell half the fucking island looks at you like that!" He raised his voice and he a big hand jester when he says half.

He started getting angry so somehow in my mind that meant I had to get angry.

"Do you think that's my fault? Hell why do you even care we're not dating!" I regretted the words as soon as I said them but I couldn't take it back now.

I can see a mix of rage and sadness in his face "I'm sleeping on the couch" he storms out of my room slamming the door.

I throw a pillow at the door and scream out of frustration.

But it was time to face the music wether we liked to admit it or not we weren't officially together, meaning we can both do whatever we wanted to.
