Amelia's POV- January 2021
"Hello" I mumbled as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes.

"Hey, I'm outside"

I squinted as I looked at the screen of my phone to confirm that it was past 2 PM.

"Were you asleep?"

"Yeah, I had a workout this morning" I stated.

Technically, I was not lying. Apparently, I aroused Gavin a little too much while he was doing his pilates workout and I was stretching to do a workout once he was done.

"I'll be down in a minute," I said.

"Okay, I'll just stay in my car"

I ended the call and sat up. Glancing over my shoulder, I couldn't help but laugh as I saw the way Gavin was sleeping. His cheeks were flushed due to the fact that he had the hood over his head, but he was fast asleep. I reached over and untied the shoelace, removing the hood a bit from his head.

"Hey" I called out.

His nose scrunched up and he turned his body away from me, which meant one thing, he wanted to continue to sleep. I reached over and pulled the hood from his head earning a groan from him.

"I'll be outside, okay?" I told him as I squeezed his hand.

He hummed.

"Love" I said squeezing his hand.

To which he mumbled,

"Yeah?"

He squeezed my hand bak,

"I'll be outside" I repeated.

He nodded and I hovered over him to peck his cheek. I climbed off the bed and stepped into the bathroom where I couldn't help but laugh at my appearance. My hair was a hot mess because I had fallen asleep to it wet. I combed through my damp hair and pulled it up in a bun before making my way out of the room. Once I grabbed my jacket, keys and put on my mask, I stepped out quickly. I glanced up and adjusted my glasses as Olli got out of his car and made his way over.

"Hey" I greeted.

"Hey"

I gestured for him to take a seat on the bench, and then took a seat on the small boulder rock.

"What's up?" I asked.

He took a seat and stared at me for a couple of seconds,

"You look..."

"Different" I offered.

He slowly nodded,

"A good different"

I looked at him for a couple of seconds before nodding,

"But that's not why you came here" I noted.

We both glanced towards the garage door as it began to open. A very drowsy-looking Gavin stepped out putting on his mask.

"What are you doing out?" I questioned.

Gavin squinted as he looked at me. He glanced at Olli and nodded at him before looking at me,

"Tony bought something for Peach"

I nodded and turned back to Olli who was watching Gavin walk over to a car.

"Why are you here, Olli?" I asked.

He turned to look at me,

"I was going to reach out after you got injured, but I figured you'd tell me to get lost"

I had been in a really dark place during that time,

"I probably would have" I confirmed.

He chuckled and leaned back,

"I could use a friend, one that isn't my teammate"

I nodded,

"AMELIA!"

I turned around and waved at Tony.

"Thank you!" I called out.

He was already out of his car, shoving Gavin towards the open garage,

"Can I meet her?"

"Take your shoes off," I told him.

I looked back at Olli who was looking at me,

"I also wanted to apologize"

I shook my head,

"None of that. I don't regret anything that happened between us. We had fun, and that's it" I said.

He nodded.

"Yeah we did"

He cocked his head to the side,

"Why'd you retire? You were phenomenal on the ice"

I pursed my lips,

"My body said no" I told him.

His brows furrowed,

"What do you mean?"

"I've got rheumatoid arthritis, so my knee did not recover as best as it could" I revealed.

There it is, the pitty eyes.

"It was quite the painful recovery" I admitted.

"But you're good now?"

I shrugged,

"As best as I could be" I stated.

He nodded,

"Well that's unfortunate"

"It is, what it is" I stated.

I glanced over to the garage as Tony stepped out.

"She's beautiful, Lia. Luxie did a good job"

I laughed,

"See you in Arizona?"

"Yes," I confirmed.

"See you then!"

I waved and turned back to Olli.

"Of course, you have a friend in me. You've always had one, I just needed some space from you to make sure that no feelings lingered" I stated.

Through my peripherals, I could see Gavin.

"And none linger?"

I shook my head,

"None at all. It's been nearly 6 years Olli. It sucks I can no longer play professional hockey, but my life is great. I love teaching, I recently moved in with my boyfriend and we have a little pet" I said.

His eyes crinkled,

"Very domestic"

I laughed,

"Yeah" I agreed

"I'm glad you're happy, you deserve nothing but that"

I smiled,

"Thank you" I replied.

"I should go"

He stood up,

"It was nice to see you"

"Don't hesitate to reach out" I told him.

He nodded and adjusted his hat.

"Take care"

We bumped forearms and he was on his way. I made my way over to Gavin who was watching Olli get into his car.

"Everything okay?"

I nodded.

"I'll tell you inside. What do you want for lunch?" I asked.

He flipped a switch making the garage doors begin to close.

"An omelet, like the ones you made Christmas day"

"Say no more," I said
