Amelia's POV- April 2021
Gavin was not thrilled that I had to go back to in-class teaching, but here he was helping me set up my classroom on the eve of Opening Day. I had received the news that I would not be a part of the staff for the upcoming school year. As devastating as it was, I pushed it aside because there was nothing I could do.

"Have you told Missy?"

"I have not, but she likely knows. Bigmouth has been telling the staff he's teaching here next year" I answered.

Greg had decided not to teach this past year because of COVID, and he did not want to risk his health. He would be back next year, and his replacement would be taking my position.

"Who decided that? That he stayed and you went?"

I shrugged,

"At this point, I really don't care" I admitted.

"You're handling this well"

I looked at Gavin,

"I already sobbed on Friday, there's no point in sulking" I replied.

I shrugged,

"I won't be teaching here, but I'll be teaching come August," I told him.

He nodded,

"Will you let your students know?"

I pursed my lips,

"I was told not to" I mentioned.

I shrugged once more,

"But I've got nothing to lose if I tell them" I noted.

He chuckled and glanced around,

"All these seats will be filled?"

"Yes," I answered.

Only half of my classes would be returning to in-class teaching.

"I got you one of those air purifiers"

Of course, he did,

"It's supposed to get here in the next couple of days"

I hummed.

"Thank you," I told him.

His eyes squinted as he smiled under the mask,

"They're all vaccinated, right?"

"Yes," I confirmed.

There was a knock on the door,

"It's Missy"

I hummed,

"News travels a lot fast than I hoped it would" I mumbled.

The door opened and Missy stepped inside.

"Of course, come on in" I stated.

Her brows furrowed,

"What is this I'm hearing that you got pink-slipped?"

"The rumors are true" I informed her.

She yanked her mask off her face,

"You know he only got hired because he's the principal's nephew"

Nepotism.

"I'll be fine" I assured her.

"Of course you will, out of all the students you've taught advance placement US History, only four have not passed. Any school would be lucky to hire you"

Gavin hummed,

"That's impressive"

Missy looked at him,
