Chapter 32. Origin Part 1

Zachariel's P.O.V

I woke up early the next day. Alexei was sleeping peacefully, so I didn't bother him. I placed a kiss on Alexei's cheek, then went to brush my teeth. I groaned when I saw how many hickeys Alexei had left on my neck. I put on a turtleneck sweater, then went to check on the kids. Bertha and Ocean waved at me when they saw me coming. The women were busy preparing things for the kid's bath. Dominique mumbled something in his sleep. I chuckled when I heard him laugh. Jacques got startled by the sudden commotion. He blinked, then began to cry. I quickly picked up Jacques, then uttered while stroking his head, "You're such a fussy baby, little chick."

Jacques rubbed his eyes, then looked cutely at me. He giggled when I tickled him. Genevieve woke up next. She smiled at me, then uttered, "Pick me up, papa." I lifted her with one arm, then started placing kisses all over her face. Dominique squealed suddenly. He jumped off his bed, then yelled, "I want you to carry me too, papa!" My back was hurting like hell, but I would do anything to please the kids. I was just about to pick up Dominique when Alexei scooped him up. Dominique kicked his legs in excitement. Alexei placed a kiss on Dominique's head, then asked him, "Did you sleep well, Dominique?"

Dominique grinned at his father, then answered him with, "Yes, daddy. I dreamt about Maverick last night. Will he visit us today?" Alexei looked in my direction when Dominique mentioned Maverick. I placed a kiss on Alexei's temple, then stated, "Your father knows what he's doing, Alexei. He won't let the kids get too attached to his dog. It wouldn't hurt to adopt a puppy, though. The dog would keep the kids busy, and the maids could take care of it while we are away." I snickered when Alexei cringed at the thought of having a dog. The kids were fortunately too preoccupied to hear our conversation. I put Jacques and Genevieve down, then said, "Let's do some fun morning exercises, kiddos." The kids knew what was coming. They stood in line and looked expectantly at me. Alexei burst out laughing when I started singing the song "Let's dance by Bounce patrol."

The kids squealed while mimicking my moves. They wiggled their butts when they heard me yell, "Shake your tail feathers, munchkins!" Bertha scowled when Ocean joined us. Alexei smiled while watching the kids move to the rhythm. The kids were exhausted by the time we finished our morning exercises. Alexei and I hugged the kids, then went to our rooms to get ready for work. My phone rang the moment I walked out of the bathroom. I put on my underwear, then picked up my phone. I groaned when I heard Zavier greet me with, "Good morning, Zach." I shook my head while thinking that I should have looked at the caller ID before answering my phone. I sighed then responded to Zavier with, "Hello Zavier, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Zavier clicked his tongue, then said, "Benjamin, Charles, John, and Dylan are having trouble increasing their businesses, Zach. Do you have anything to do with it? I'm asking you this because you are the only one skilled enough to pull this off. The odd thing is that things started going awry for the guys after they mistreated you." I clutched my fist, then yelled, "How dare you blame me of such things, Zavier? I don't have time to think about those animals. You know what my goal is. It would be stupid of me to concentrate on people who don't mean anything to me. You better have not told them about my abilities. Your friends are brainless. I will make you suffer if they attack me again."

Zavier sighed, then stated, "I didn't tell anyone about what you are capable of, Zach. You are my friend. You may not believe this, but I don't want anyone to hurt you. I hope that business will pick up soon for my friends. They have suffered too many losses. Their businesses won't survive if things keep on like this." It was like Zavier wanted me to save his friend's businesses. I huffed then uttered, "I have to get ready for work now, Zavier. Don't bother me with trivial stuff again." I turned off my phone before Zavier could reply to me. I had learned how to lie at the orphanage. I wasn't evil. I wouldn't destroy people's lives just because they had said a few hurtful words to me. The tides would turn soon for Benjamin, Charles, and John. I wasn't sure about Dylan, though, because he had messed with the law. I didn't feel like doing anything for him. I got startled when Alexei hugged me from behind. He was ready for work while I was still in my boxer briefs. Alexei placed a kiss on my neck, then said, "The hickeys look good on you, Zachariel."
