Zachariel's P.O.V

Hi guys, here is the chapter you all been waiting for. Enjoy reading, write a comment, and stay safe.

I had to conduct two online interviews to get the job that I required. I was looking forward to working at The Marquis empire. They were the giants of the business world. I was sure that I would learn a lot from them. I was ready to quit my bartending job. My former boss was a great guy, but I needed a stable job. My boss and I gradually became friends. I had managed to find a job at a popular bar in town. Peter Ellon got disappointed when I told him that I was quitting. I couldn't blame Peter because he had helped me hone my bartending skills. I was an ambitious person. I was over the moon when I heard that there was an association that held bartending competitions each year.

I wasn't allowed to drink because of the medicines that I was taking to calm my nerves. Peter had helped me improve my blending techniques by being my mentor and my sampler. I decided not to participate in the competitions when I found out that I had to put on a show for the judges by drinking like a sailor. One of my signature cocktails received a lot of praise from a lot of customers. It soon became a popular drink, even if it only contained a small amount of alcohol. My other drinks made the bar a lot of money too. So you can imagine why Peter didn't want to part with me.

The Attraente Bar was famous. It would survive without me. A lot of attractive men and women worked at the bar. It was the kind of bar where you could request the host that you preferred. The hosts would then serve you exclusively for the night. I got excluded from the list because of my position. Bartenders like me weren't allowed to participate. I was sure that some of the bartenders hoped that they could serve the customers. The bar was always brimming with regular and wealthy customers. So the hosts received a lot of tips. There were also private rooms available for the people who wanted to enjoy their drinks in peace. Peter was already in a relationship. His boyfriend, Giuliano, was rich. He had helped Peter build the bar. I had seen Giuliano around the bar, but I had never met him personally. Peter made sure that everyone stayed away from his boyfriend.

The bar meant a lot to me because it had helped me cope with my heartbreak and destruction. It had also helped me focus on my task at hand, which was to make myself stable enough to operate in the corporate world. I assured Peter that he could count on me in his time of need before quitting my job. He wasn't happy, but he still wished me luck. I was overly excited the day before joining The Marquis empire. My next step would lead me closer to my goal. I needed to plan everything thoroughly. Zavier was shocked when he found out that I had gotten a job at The Marquis empire. He was worried about my health. He thought that I couldn't handle the stress of working a nine to five job. He was also concerned about people ridiculing me. Zavier was a fool. I was in tip-top condition. So no one could stop me now. I had been longing to start my journey for such a long time.

Zavier calmed down when I explained to him that no one knew me in Los Angeles. People were too engrossed in their lives to worry about who won awards or how much money others made. Zavier helped me prepare for work without complaining after that. I had to report to Marquis headquarters on a Monday morning. I woke up early in the morning, then took a shower. I wore one of the cheap suits that I had recently bought. Zavier was still asleep, so I didn't bother him. I had purchased a cheap Kia Seltos with the money that I had earned while working at the bar. The car was still in pristine condition, and I hoped that it would stay so.

I had trouble finding a parking space when I reached The Marquis headquarters. I didn't have an employee access badge yet. I couldn't park in the company's parking lot even if I wanted to. I was glad that I had left home early because it took me at least twenty minutes to find a suitable parking space. I quickly grabbed my bag then started walking towards the headquarters. I heard a baby's cries from a distance. I frowned when I saw people ignoring the woman who was desperately asking for help. The woman tried her best to calm her baby down, but the child was too agitated to listen.
