Chapter 7

Lenas POV

Everyone had left now and we were cleaning up, it's merely 11 o'clock now and I was going to check on Jo, she had went to bed a few hours ago, I was guessing meeting a bunch of new people wore her out,

I opened her door quietly so I wouldn't wake her and walked over to her bed, but she wasn't in it, she wasn't even in her bathroom

"Kara!" I tell and she comes running in

"What's wrong?" She ask

"She's not in here" I say looking around and I found a note

"Kara" I say again and sit down on the bed

"Hey guys, I just want to thank you both for everything you have done for me these past few days, I have never had anyone treat me as good as you both did, I am so sorry for just leaving with no goodbye but it was better that way, I'm okay and it's better you don't look for me. You both deserve a life without me and that's not possible if I'm with you, I have a lot of baggage, just wanted to say thank you and I hope you both stay well and I will be fine,

"What happened? I thought she was happy" Kara sighs,

"She left everything here Kara, the phone, the clothes, the school supplies it's all here Kara" I say

"We have to go get her" she says

"We don't know where she is" I say

"Well we can call Alex, she will have some resources" Kara says walking out of the room

"Kara" I call after her and hold her hands

"Let's think about this okay? It's dark out, she wouldn't be out past dark. Where is the only place she can go?" I say

"The orphanage" Kara says and I nod

"Exactly" I say and grab my keys as we leave the penthouse and get into the car driving to the orphanage

"Go away" Ms.Nancy says from inside and I roll my eyes

"Open the door" I say sternly and she does,

"What do you to want?" She sighs

"We know Jo came back" Kara says

"Yea?" She says

"Well we're here to take her back home" I say and a little girl comes down the steps

"Jo doesn't want you, you don't want her" she yells

"Lily go upstairs!" Nancy yells at her and she goes back up, a minute later Jo comes back down,

Karas POV

Jo walked down the steps and Lena and I are both waiting for her, Lena has her arms crossed and looks really intimidating,

"You ready?" She says and Jo sighs and follows us outside and gets into the car

The car ride was an awkward silence the whole time and even when we got back to the penthouse she went to her room and Lena went to hers and I followed

"Lena what are you doing?" I ask her

"What?" She replies

"The whole intimidation look, she is scared and you're not making it better" I scold her and walk out going to Jos room, she is laying in her bed crying

"Hey.." I say sitting down next to her and she looks over at me

"Want to tell me what this stunt you pulled was?" I ask and she looks away again

"Okay, I'll start. Why did that little girl say we didn't want you?" I ask

"Because you dont, who wants to adopt a 14 year old, especially one out of an orphanage" she says

"Why on earth would you think that?" I ask

"Because! It's my life it happened all the time, you seen some poor girl on the street and decided to bring her into your home where you act like you want me here until I trust you then you get rid of me" she cries

"Jo we aren't getting rid of you, we want you here forever, I promise" I say holding her and Lena knocks on the door and comes in and sends me an apologetic look and sits down on the bed

"She's right Jo, we aren't getting rid of you, ever, we want you to be our daughter. If you'll have us" Lena says and I nod

"I have a lot of baggage and I don't want to bring you all down with it" she sighs

"Like what?" I ask her

"Like ..... I sometimes get nightmares from my past" she explains

"Jo that's normal, a lot of people have nightmares and that's nothing to be ashamed of, that doesn't make us think any less of you" Lena tells her

"I'm sorry, for running" she says

"It's okay, we found you, just scared us a little" I admit

"Why don't we get some sleep?" Lena suggest and she nods, we tucked her in and kissed her head and told her goodnight and I walked back to my room which Lena followed me into,

"Kara" she says and sits down on my bed

"Yes Lee?" I ask her

"Are you mad at me?" She ask

"What? No of course not" I say

"You sure?" She ask

"Yes Lee, I'm not mad" I assure her

"I didn't mean to be intimidating tonight, I was just worried" she explains

"I know," I say and she leans into me and I press a kiss against her head

"We should get some sleep" I say nervously and she nods

"Goodnight Kara" she says walking out of my room and into hers
