Matt and the kanima disappeared from the street immediately after their appearance, and with no better idea, the three of us climb into Stiles' Jeep and drive right over to his house. Upon our arrival we drag Mr. Stilinski right out of bed and into Stiles' bedroom to try and convince him that the serial killer he's after is not our chemistry teacher Mr. Harris—who apparently is about to be taken into custody for the murders—but a teenage boy from our high school class. We didn't expect it to be easy. Stiles fishes out the most recent Beacon Hills High yearbook from a clutter of different files on his desk, flipping through it until he finds him: Matthew Daehler.

"So this kid's the real killer?"

"Yeah," we answer confidently.

"No," he disagrees.

"Yes!"

"No," he says more sternly, causing Stiles to jump to his feet.

"Dad, come on! Everyone knows that the police look for ways to connect victims in a murder, okay? So all you have to do is, like, look through their transcripts, and figure out which class they all had in common."

"Yeah, except for the fact that the rave promoter Kara wasn't in Harris's class."

"Alright, okay, you're right. Sorry. So then I guess they dropped the charges against him?" Stiles challenges his dad, and seeing this, Mr. Stilinski scowls and sticks a finger out.

"No, you know what? They're not dropping the charges. But that doesn't prove anything," he answers, reaching down and tapping Matt's yearbook photo. He looks at my brother and I. "You two. You believe this?"

"We know it's him," I tell the man sincerely, my eyes pleading.

"It's really hard to explain how we know this, but you just gotta trust us," Scott adds. "We know it's Matt."

"Yeah, he took Harris's car, okay?" Stiles continues. "Look, he knew that if a cop found tire tracks at one of the murders, and that if enough of the victims were in Harris's class, that they'd arrest him."

"Alright fine," Mr. Stilinski snaps. "I'll allow the remote possibility, but give me a motive. I mean why would this kid want most of the 2006 swim team and its coach dead?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Stiles shouts, earning a look from Scott and I. We don't exactly have a motive yet. "Our swim team sucks! They haven't won in like six years! Okay, we don't have a motive yet. I mean, come on, does Harris?"
