We have to come up with a plan, and we have to come up with one fast. Derek is going to take Lydia's failure of the test as all the evidence he needs to get rid of her—to kill her. Even though we all know I'm unaffected by the venom as well. If Derek and Stiles hadn't seen that creature and I in the same room at the same time, would he put a target on my head instead? Does he know where to draw his lines? Right now, it doesn't seem like it. I don't like his shoot first, ask questions later attitude. It's going to get even more innocent people killed.

Allison, Stiles, Scott and I meet up in Coach's office after chemistry class to regroup and come up with a plan privately. We know Derek is waiting right outside for Lydia—we also know that we can't leave her alone for much longer. If Erica or Isaac find a way to talk her into leaving this building, Derek will make his move. We have to figure out a way to get her out of here safely, somehow without clueing her in on what's going on and also distracting Derek and his pack so they don't notice.

I absolutely hate the way everyone is looking at me. Like this is my responsibility. To an extent, yes it is. I will fight to keep my close friend alive, till I'm dead myself if I have to. But that's not why they're looking at me like this; I know what they're thinking. I have to stop Derek because he's my problem. If we hadn't bonded like we did, tried to start something, would he have skipped town after he killed Peter? Gone back to wherever it is he came from, never to bother any of us again? The what-ifs are pointless to think about but I can't help myself.

"I don't think he's gonna do anything here. Not at school," Scott says, shaking his head. I nod in agreement. He won't risk exposing himself in a town that's already extremely suspicious of him.

"What about after school?" Allison points out. "We need to prove that he's wrong."

"By three o' clock?"

"What if there's something in the bestiary?"

"Oh, you mean the nine hundred page book written in Archaic Latin that none of us can read? Good luck with that!" Stiles exclaims.

"Actually, I might know someone who could be able to translate it," Allison says, a look of realization coming across her pale face.

"Skylar and I can talk to Derek," Scott offers to the group. "Convince him to give us a chance to prove it's not her." Great. "If anything happens, you guys let me handle it," Scott barks to the rest of the room, but more specifically to Allison. He doesn't want her to get hurt.

Without replying, Allison turns and starts digging through her bag. The bell rings as she produces a small compactable crossbow, holding it up triumphantly. "I can protect myself."
