Lies

"Practice for Paige"
Couldn't have said it any worse. I smiled to her and replied "of course." But really I was dying on the inside. Of course she loved Paige, she was with her after all.

We pulled apart but my lips still tingled. Emily dropped her towel to get her clothes and I stared at her until she looked at me. I looked away in time and got on my phone to make it look like I was busy. I was lying to myself if I said I didn't love her but I'm so used to being the one chased, it felt new to me to have someone not love me the same way.

"Okay so what's up?" Emily asked me looking concerned.
It took me a moment to figure out what she was saying and then I remembered I had used the excuse that my household was really crazy. "Oh um my parents are fighting about money." I lied-man the lies were just rolling off my tongue. Just to protect the stupid fact that I was in love with Emily.
"I'm sorry, I'm sure it'll all be okay in the morning." Emily touched my hand and smiled. God, she was so beautiful.
"I don't want to be alone right now, can I stay the night?" I looked desperately in her eyes.
"Of course you can. Let me just call Paige and talk to her for a little bit because you know, we're working things out." She told me grabbing her phone.
"Oh okay." I sat down in her bed and bunched the sheets up inhaling her scent.

Twenty long minutes later, Emily came back.
"Hey babe." I said casually picking up on of her pillows and placing it over my stomach.
"Hey." She sat down next to me and brushed her hair out of her face.
"Did you ever love me like you love Paige?" I blurted out and then got really red, "just because like if you did, you can tell me-not that I care."
"You already know the answer to that. Did you?" She replied curiously.
"What? No." I lied for the third time today to her.
"Oh. Well it's been a long day so I'm going to bed." She said and went under the covers. I joined her and curled up to her body.

Yeah, I definitely couldn't lie to myself that I loved her, but how long can I lie to her.
