Naida's pov

After dinner I volunteered to show Prince Eret and his guards to their rooms. I had just led them out into the main hallway when my attention was grabbed by one of the guards.

"I'm sorry if this is rude at all but, weren't those guards overstepping some boundries?" Nathaniel asked.

"Nope! Sam, Ant and Skeppy were my dad's best friends before they were his guards and advisors. Skeppy is my legal god father, Sam is the only person my Dad has ever trusted to care for me and Ant is like an older brother. Dinner is always like that, Staff normally come and sit with us too, we don't care for formalities and titles here." I replied. "You're free to ask whatever questions you want, I won't find it rude."

Prince Eret smiled at me as I led them up the first staircase.

"What's with that look?" I asked.

"Sorry, it's just nice too see a kingdom that doesn't put emphasis on royal blood. Back home a royal title means everything." Prince Eret said.

"That's just sad, up until about 200 years ago this place didn't even have a castle. The people insisted on building one for him to thank him for his 900 years of service." I said, causing Daniel to choke. "Are you doing okay?"

"900 years!?" Daniel asked in pure shock.

"Well it's more like 1,100 now. If you haven't noticed a large percentage of the kingdom consists of non-humans. My father is one of them, he's over 2,000 years old." I explained. "This kingdom has a long history and my father has been there for all of it. What about your kingdom? I don't know much about it other than it's called Quisling and that we're close to war with eachother."

"It's the opposite of this place. Everyone is human and my Father has only ruled for 30 years. Everything is based on status and no servants would ever be allowed near the table while we were eating. It's very rule based." Prince Eret explained.

"Well maybe you can improve it when you take the throne." I said as I stopped in the guest wing of the castle.

"You can have your pick of any room on the left side. The one at the end beside the balcony on the right belongs to Ant. If you need anything you can go to him." I explained.

"Thank you very much for your time, and thank you for allowing us to stay in your home." Prince Eret said.

"No problem, I hope you like it here! Goodnight." I said before skipping off through the halls to go to my own room.

When I arrived at my bedroom I was greeted by Sam who was waiting outside my door. Sam's bedroom was directly next to mine and had a door that connects our two rooms together. It was like this incase of an emergency.

"Hello Sam, why are you just hanging out outside my room?" I asked.

"I don't trust Prince Eret and his men. I was just making sure you got back alright." Sam explained.

"You worry too much Sam. They're just being a bit odd because they're feeling out of place, from what they've told me the Badlands are very different from Quisling. I'm sure I'd be abit awkward if I went to their kingdom." I said.

"If you say so." Sam said. "Now get some rest. It's been a long day."

"Goodnight Sammy." I said as I enveloped him I a hug.

"Goodnight Naida." Sam said, hugging me back.

We stood there for a few seconds before Sam left to go do whatever Sam did when I went to bed. I entered my room and changed into a shirt I had stolen from Sam that fell past my knees. I had stolen clothes from litteraly all of my dad's friends.

I had gotten into bed and grabbed my book from my bedside table to read. I had barely gotten through the first chapter when my door was pushed open and my Dad came in.

"Hey there muffin." Dad said gently as he came over to sit on the side of my bed.

"Hey Dad, what's up?" I asked.

"How are you feeling about today?" Dad asked.

"It was okay. We got off to a bad start when we bumped into them this morning and Skeppy swore at them. They seem okay, they're just used to everything being formal and such. I could never deal with the whole royalty is everything you must a stuck up butt at all times stuff. Prince Eret is colorful though." I replied.

Eret was exactly that, bright and colorful. He had curly chocolate brown hair and had a big golden crown with different colored jewels embedded in it that. He wore a red high collared jacket with golden embellishments and a long pink, purple and blue cape. He wore big black sunglasses that you could see a faint glow coming through. He wore big brown chunky heeled boots that had his black dresspants tucked into them and to top it off his nails were painted a bright red.

"He is. Hopefully we can come to some kind of agreement and send them on their way before the end of the week. I don't want us missing out on our annual castle wide game of hide and seek." Dad said.

"If they're still here by then maybe we can have them join in." I suggested and Dad smiled.

"Maybe, now get some sleep muffin. If anything happens Sam is on alert next door and if you yell I'll come running. I promise." Dad said before kissing my forehead.

"Night Dad." I said.

"Goodnight." Dad said.

He then got up from my bed and blew out the torches before leaving. He always came in to check on me and put out the lights every night.
