You saw the lights coming towards you faster than you expected, then, it was like time stopped. You froze in place, watching as the yellow lights got brighter as they came closer to you, lighting up the darkness that was the night. Have you ever heard the phrase 'my life flashed before my eyes'?

Yeah.

You understood that now.

You were done for.

"Daichi! Come on! You're going to be late!" you called out to your best friend with a skip in your step. Daichi laughed as he followed behind you. You both were on your way to a volleyball captains' meeting and somehow you had convinced Daichi to ask the other captains to let you come along. Luckily, Kuroo knew you well enough and allowed it. I mean, it was only fair since you were technically a volleyball captain... just of the Nekoma girls' team. You and Daichi had been friends since you were 5 years old and you had learned how to get your way with Daichi. Despite having gone to completely different High Schools, the two of you always made time to see each other and each other's games. He ran to catch up with you and tackled you in a hug. "Daichi!" you yelled out between your laughs.

"What's all this ruckus?" a voice called out and you both stopped to look at whoever had said it. You saw the smirk of a boy you also knew fairly well. Admittedly, you had only met Kuroo three years ago when you began attending Nekoma, so you weren't as close with him as you were with Daichi, but you two were still close. Actually, you knew a lot of the captains pretty well.

"Sorry Kuroo, blame y/n," Daichi snickered.

"Hey!" You hissed and the two boys laughed.

"You made it to Miyagi and back just fine?" Kuroo asked. You nodded. You had gone all the way to Miyagi to meet up with Daichi and come with him back to Tokyo. Both the boys were confused as to why you thought that would be necessary, but Daichi was not going to complain in the slightest. Kuroo led you both to the restaurant where everyone was meeting. The plan was to eat dinner than go back to Fukurōdani and go play some volleyball. There was 10 people invited, all of which were captains, except for Akaashi. You knew him through Kuroo and he was nice. You two were actually kind of close. Bokuto had begged to bring him and Kuroo noticed that Oikawa was the only setter and having another setter with us would make it more even when you all play. I mean, it was already messed up since all but four of you were spikers. Akaashi and Oikawa were setters and you and Kuroo were middle blockers, so at least the teams would be even.

They're all volleyball players, what do you expect?

Daichi, Kuroo and yourself entered the restaurant and to your table and you were immediately embraced by Bokuto.

"Y/n! I'm so glad you could make it! I missed you!" he said. You also knew Bokuto pretty well.

"Hello y/n," Akaashi said, holding his hand out for you to shake his hand. Daichi watched as you were surrounded by the two and Kuroo. He knew you had made friends while you were in Tokyo, but he couldn't help but feel jealous. You had been his best friend for so long and he couldn't help but worry that he would be replaced. You had told him many times before that that would never happen, but he still worried.

He also knew though that part of it was that his feelings for you were more than just friends and he worried that you would never see him as more than what you currently were.
