Thank you so much for reading my first story. I hope you all enjoyed and liked the ending.
I started this back in 2018 when I was still in high school and only wrote when I was feeling down. I finished it three years later in 2021, where I'm now in college, and was excited to write.
I may try to write another story sometime but will plan it out better than this one.
There was a lot of grammatical and spelling issues I need to go back and fix one day. There were also a few chapters I didn't really like, so I may fix them up as well.
I didn't make a habit of taking notes on certain things, so sometimes there would be inconsistencies. I apologize for that.
Now to celebrate the ending, here's some fun facts about the story (some ain't so fun, tw // suicide, depression #7)
1. Aubrey was originally allergic to shellfish
2. In the very first chapter, Aubrey and Jay were supposed to kiss, but I wanted to lead up to that instead, so I changed it
3. I hate the love triangle trope, so I knew from the beginning I would not have one in this book.
4. I was into reading several different tropes when I first wrote this, so the beginning is a bit scrambled because I wanted to include as many as I could.
5. Part of Aubrey's personality and mentality is the same as me. (ex: her insecurities)
6. Whenever I wrote about Lizzy, I always pictured her as one of those best friends whose part punk from an early 2000's coming of age movie - with a color streak in her hair and everything
7. TW At some point, Aubrey was going to have depression, and it would worsen (the bad argument with Alex was going to be the last straw), and she was going to feel unwanted. She was going to go to the roof and think about jumping but Jay would stop her.
— I didn't feel comfortable enough to write about this, so I cut it out
8. Aubrey was going to have insomnia for some reason, but I forgot and always ended chapters with her sleeping
9. Noah's character was based on a character from My Hero Academia
— I also threw a few more references in
10. Some of the scenes where Aubrey and Jay kissed, or when they confessed feelings, had other variations but I liked the finals one's best
11. Adam was going to be alive and would be a bad ex of Aubrey's who caused her insecurities, but I wanted him to be a good guy.
12. Sara was going to be more involved in the story, but I switched her out for Lizzy
13. I've never actually dated/kissed/loved anyone, embarrassingly enough, so if the lovey bits seem off, that's why
I think that's it, if I can remember more, I'll add them.
