(Mad's POV)
"Hey Mads" Lara says
"Hiya" I say giving her a hug
"Hi, I'm Josh, but I think you already knew that about me" Josh says
"Yeah, Bulldogs supporter my entire life, so" I reply back
"That's amazing, I couldn't imagine being drafted to another club" Josh says and give him a smile
"So, Josh what's your shoe size" I ask him
"43" Josh replies
"Okay well here you two go, come with me" I say as I bring Josh into the room and I give him a basic rundown of what the bikes do and he lets me know what he can't do with his shoulder
" I wanted to ask you something" I ask him
"Well I normally introduce the class to newbies but I don't know if you would be comfortable with everybody knows you are if, so I'm basically asking would you like me to not introduce you to everyone or not" I ask him
"Your welcome to introduce me, but could you just not say my last name" Josh replies
"Yeah definitely, well I will see you soon" I say
10 minutes later all of my riders are in the room. It's surprisingly empty, but then again it is 8am on a monday morning!
I try to keep an eye on Josh the entire ride. I mean how could I not when he looks like that, but that wasn't really why I was looking at him! I was trying to make sure that he wasn't in pain and that he wasn't gonna re-injure his shoulder, because I know that if he was to re-injure now, I would 100% blame myself!
"Good job everyone, especially to our newbie, Josh, who did an amazing job for his first time" I say
I run through everyone through some stretches and everyone's heads out the room! I catch up with Lara and Josh outside!
"How did you go Josh" I ask him
"Yeah, it was a lot harder than I thought, you thought being an AFL athlete it would make it easier" he said
"HAHA, trust me, everyone thinks it would be easy when they first try, but after their first class they are puffed" I say
"Let's get a photo" Lara says
I ask Sam to help us get a photo, which I know will be on the Unite Ride instagram soon
"Hey, Mad's, Josh and I were just gonna get some breakfast, do you wanna come" Lara asks me
"Yeah definitely, let me just get my stuff, I'll be right back" I say when I go grab my bag and throw a hoodie on
"Okay, you guys ready" I say
"Yep, where should we meet" Lara asks
"Wanna go to small graces?" Josh asks
"Yeah, but I have no idea where it is" I say
"Well, why don't I come with you and we can meet Lara there" Josh suggests
"Yep, sounds like a good idea" Lara says
"See you soon" I say and Josh and I head out back to my car
"How's your recovery going" I ask when we get into my car and he starts to get me directions
"Yeah not bad, it sucks that i was finally playing some of my best footy and I got injured" Josh says as his phone starts to blow up
"You must be famous" I jolly say to Josh
"Yeah, it's my girlfriend, she's just worried about me," Josh says and my heart somewhat shatters. I mean I knew that there is no way that Josh and I could end up being something, but maybe we can still be friends...
"Oh yeah, who is this girlfriend" I ask
"Oh her name is Morgan, her and i have been dating for a little over a year ago" he says "You know you look really familiar but I can't pinpoint it"
"Yeah, I've come to open training a couple of times with my younger brother Caleb" I say lowering my voice
"Why does that name ring a bell" Josh says
"Okay well, dont judge, but you might remember him because he asked you back in 2018 if you had a girlfriend and he said I wanted to know" I say back
"Oh I remember that day very well" Josh responds back "You have definitely gotten much more gorgeous since then"
"Wow, I'm surprised you remembered" I say
"How could I not, I almost came up to your after the signing but you had already left" Joshs says as we pull up to Small Graces
(Josh's POV)
Jesus Christ, I knew I had seen Mads before. I remember how much I punched myself after that day because I was so anxious that she would judge me for asking for her number, but hey, we found eachother again... is that something?
(Mad's POV)
"Long time no see" I say to Lara
"HAH yeah, I've got a table" Lara says
"Lovely" I say as we take a seat and look at the menu and I decide that I want a chai latte and a breakfast sandwich
"Josh, would you like to go up and order for us" Lara asks
"I would love too" Joshs says and he gets up
"So, do you like josh' Lara asks
"I mean how could you not" I say back smiling
"ahah" Lara says smiling as well
"Yeha his girlfriend seemed very concerned, she was blowing up his phone" I say
"Oh don't even get my started on Morgan" Lara says and it clearly obvious she doesn't like her
"What do you mean" I ask
"I can't stand her" Lara says
"What has she done" I try to find out some more detail
"I reckon shes just uses Josh for his fame, but he's so blind sided by her, I just can't see him get hurt" Lara says
"Jeez, does he not trust you" I ask
"Not trust me on what" Josh says
"Oh nothing" Lara says winking at me
We just sit and chat for what seems like forever, which was nice, it still felt weird just sitting with Josh, given who is his, but I think by the end of it, a friendship could be formed!
"Well, i need to get going, my uni needs me" I say
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that you were in uni" Lara says
"Mads do you think I could have your number" Josh asks
Holy shit, Josh Dunkley just asked for my number, I'm screaming on the inside, but I have to play it cool on the inside, 14 year old me could not have believed this!!
"Yeah definitely" I say as I type my number into his phone
"Well, I will see you guys around!"I say
"Yeah you will definitely see us at spin soon" Joshs says
"Lovely' I say and give them hugs and head back to my car
I just realised that I hadn't told Liv about my day, she will freak. I drive as home as quickly as I can to tell Liv everything!
