"Where are we going?" A blindfolded Dusk asked as Klaus H and Quigley led her up the stairs to the observation tower. "You'll see when we get there!" Klaus teased. When they reached the final step, Quigley stood behind Dusk and removed the blindfold from her eyes. She gasped when she saw what was in front of her. A picnic blanket was laid out on the wooden deck, a basket in its center.
"This is so beautiful!" She chuckled, looking over at her boyfriends with happiness in her eyes. "I know you've been awfully busy these past couple of weeks, so we decided to make tonight a special one," Quigley smiled. The three of them sat down and dug through the picnic basket, searching for some of the contents inside. "I know you love strawberries, so I made sure to find the ripest ones I could find!" Klaus smiled, handing her a container of chocolate-covered strawberries.
"Aww! You guys know me so well!" Dusk gushed. When the rest of the food was laid out, Quigley reached into the basket once more and pulled out a large bottle of what appeared to be a red drink. He poured the bubbly substance into the glasses, handing one to Klaus and Dusk and leaving one for himself. "To our beautiful girl and many more nights like this," Klaus said, raising his glass.
They clinked their glasses together and began to eat some of the delicious food. "I love how you guys take care of me," Dusk said before taking a bite of her croissant. "You deserve it because you are hardworking, brave, and above all, sweet!" Quigley responded, brushing a piece of her hair to the side before kissing her left cheek. "Don't forget about the right one. It'll get jealous," Dusk giggled.
Klaus crawled over to her and kissed her right cheek before crashing his lips onto hers. After a moment, Quigley kissed her, and Klaus began to kiss her neck. "Maybe we should wait until later," Dusk said, pulling apart from her boyfriends. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see something in the distance. She stood up and walked over to the rail to get a better glance.
In the forest, she could see fog, but this wasn't your average-looking fog. It appeared to be almost light pink. "Guys, I think you need to see this," Dusk called out. Quigley pulled out his telescope and looked out into the forest from the safety of the tower. "I need to go check this out," Quigley said. But before he could run off, Dusk grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her. "No. I'll go," Dusk explained.
Their eyes widened with surprise, and they began to protest, saying that they want nothing to happen to her. "I can't ask you to risk your lives if this is dangerous. Let me handle it," Dusk assured them, kissing their cheeks before she ran down the stairs and walked past the cabins. "Dusk! We saw the fog! What's going on?" Five emerged from his cabin with Maisie and Nicky by his side.
Dusk continued moving towards the forest, and without hesitation, Maisie followed her older sister, worried about what she was getting herself into. "Dusk! Wait up!" She called out, Virginia and McKenna following close behind. "Don't try and stop me! I'm going to check it out whether you like it or not!" Dusk said, not looking back. "We're not trying to stop you. We're coming with you!" Virginia explained.
She came to a stop and turned around to face the three girls. "I can't live with the guilt if something bad happens-" "Dusk, do you remember what we promised each other when we became The Creative Crew? To not leave our sisters behind. So, you if you go out there, we go out there," McKenna cut in. Dusk looked at her younger sisters, knowing that they were right. And as much as she wanted to protest and tell them to stay by the camp, she knew that they made up their minds.
"Your right. Come on, let's go. Stay close to me," Dusk caved in, turning around on her heel and continuing the walk into the forest. Maisie, Virginia, McKenna, and Dusk continued walking through the forest, coming closer to this mysterious colored fog. They came to stop a few feet away from the pink cloud, and Dusk reached her hand out, sticking it into the fog before quickly pulling it back out.
"What do we do?" Maisie asked. "Only one way to find out," Dusk said before walking into the fog by herself. "No! Dusk!" McKenna shouted. Everything surrounding Dusk was hazy, and she started to feel her legs give out underneath her. "Dusk, can you hear us? What's going on in there?" Virginia called out. "So.. dizzy," she whispered before falling onto the ground, darkness taking over her gaze.
"We have to go in and get her!" Maisie said frantically, looking at McKenna and Virginia. As much as it was a difficult choice to go into the fog and risk their lives, they were doing it for their sister. The girls grabbed hands and took a deep breath walking in together, instantly coughing as the fog filled their lungs. "D-Dusky? Where are you?" Maisie called out. They took a few steps more and looked down to see her lying on the ground unconscious.
"No! Dusk, it's okay. You're going to be fine!" Maisie gasped, bending down and cradling her head. She heard a thud and looked behind her to see that Virginia and McKenna had collapsed as well, their breathing becoming shallow. "No! Vi, Kenzie!" Maisie let out a cough and tried to drag them out of the fog, but when she stood up, she instantly fell back down. Her eyelids became heavy and she fell onto her back, her eyes closing as the fog surrounded the unconscious Creative Crew.
